Title: Bally 809 How To Chane Out a Handle? Post by: danatlvc on March 01, 2013, 04:13:02 PM Hello All,
I'm in need of changing out my handle & have a new one. Is there a trick to getting the handle/hub off without taking the handle box assembly out, like a lock washer under the hub or something? I have a manual, but it doesn't break down the handle & have never changed one before, I'm sure it's easy, but I don't have a cue Any & All suggestions Appreciated!!! Post by: OldReno on March 01, 2013, 04:52:04 PM Pull out your reel mech, and you'll see a half inch bolt on the handle box with the handle fork attached in place. Unscrew the long bolt and pull it out. Then you can twist your handle and pull it out of the hub. To re-install just do the reverse, but you're going to have to use 'feel' to get the bolt into the threads of the new handle. Put some grease on the threads of the bolt, and be sure to torque it down. They are quality bolts, and you can put some pressure on it.

On the inside of the machine there is a long bolt that goes through the handle gear box assembly. On the inside it has the U shaped bracket under the bolt head. The other end is threaded into the handle. Remove that bolt then give the handle a twist and it should slide out of the hub. Good luck and keep us posted...
