Title: IGT red white and blue DBV WONT WORK.
Post by: drfreeze1739 on March 06, 2013, 04:21:20 AM
I have a igt slot machine, I think it is a S+

Battery was dead so i replaced it.  Had to do a clear chip on it to get it to work.

The bill validator wouldnt do anything. so i got a set chip ( 15)

After i did the set chip the bill validator still didnt work,,, didnt make any noise when starting up.

So i bought a bill validator head. after i put the new head in it and turned it back on it cycles now.

But still wount except bills and the lights on the bezel wont light up. i tested the lights in the bezel and they work.

I have tested the cash can and all the switches that go to it and they all work.

I have tested the transporter and it all works as far as i can tell.

Every thing else on the machine works just fine except the bill validator.

The bill valadator show ( DBV-200-SS ID 022/023   V-2.51-04-03 )

first- make sure all your connections are good,  black plug ( on the left side front)  gives power to the unit, two red leds come on . the connector behind it goes to the lamp assembly on the door, this provides a signal to turn on the lamp circuits.looks as if some on has spliced those wires (as per your picture). the next connector is the black connector on the right side front, this connector is for the cash can optics. (sometimes one of the pins get bent and even though it looks like it is seated it is not.

next: make sure that your transport and head unit are sitting flush on the floor of the housing and the white wheel is sticking through the hole in the housing in the back left corner. (view this with the cash can out, you could also determine if the unit is flush with the floor of the housing.
unplug and plug back in the black power connector, this should start the initial purg cycle, two distinct sounds, one heavy grinding noise( this is the transport gear meshing with the cash can gear), and a softer gear meshing on the 200 head itself. these two sounds have to be present before you move on.

next: if all is good to this point, with everything in place, pull out the cash can, unit should start to cycle, it is looking for the cash cash through the optics, push cash can back in and unit should return to normal.

next: since you have a SP731 chip: press the white test button, until you see a 5_0 or 1 or 2 in the winners paid window, press the service button on the front door, this will advance the number, when you get to nine, you should see it as 9_1, meaning the validator is enabled. if it is 9_0 its not enabled.

next: press the bet one button until you see a 6 in the coins played window, you should see a 25 in the winner paid window.
next: press the bet one until you see a 7 in the coins paid window, WP= max number of coins,  max hopper pay selection.
next:press bet 1 again, CREDITS= max number of credits, (bill acceptor credit limit)
next: press bet 1 again,  8 in coins played , WP= coins to be paid from hopper (partial pay selection)
next: press the bet one button unit you see 10_0 in the winners paid window,  push the service button until you see a 27_0 in winners paid, the yellow bezel lamps should be lit, if not, ( you said bulbs were good) the ground from the press max button  could be missing, or the board itself could be bad, have seen the big transistor legs broke off.
you should be able to insert a bill into the acceptor, it will draw it in and hold for a few seconds then return it.

if all your settings are good, and it accepts the bill in the 27_0 test it should work when the door is closed.

Hope this helps

Jim

Ok.

first off went throw all your setting and they where all wrong on my end. it showed 9-0 5 for domanation

so i stuck in the set chip and set some setting to 9-1 and 25 in domanation.

now it put it all back in with game chip and i get the below.

it shows 9-1
it shows 25
it shows 400 max hopper pay
shows 400 bill aceptor max credit
show 6 for (partial pay selection)

Press bet one button untill you see 10-0... it didnt show 10-0 it went to 00 then pressed it again and it went blank
now it shows 0 in coin played.

With door closed it will take bill now but holds it for a second them spits it back out...

Does the "Insert Coin" light flash by chance right before the machine rejects the bill?

Also, while trying to get this to work, please ONLY use a $1 bill in good condition for testing.

go back to the the self test where you have the 5_0,1,or 2 displayed, press the service button until you advance to the last set of numbers  CP=0,  WP= first four settings of the dip switches, CREDITS= last four settings of the dip switch  on the board.    that tells you the condition of the dip switches are they are at the present time. they should be  WP=1111,  Credits=0000,  this will allow you you to set the limits to you your liking.

especially #8  you said yours was set for 6, I typically set all mine for 1000.  after you determine where your dip switches are set to, to re program the setting, press the bet 1 button until you get to #7 in the coins played window,  according to what you said, you should see a 400 in the winner paid window with the last digit flashing, press the spin buttom, each time you press it , it should go up by one, when you get to the number you want press the service button, it should move to the next digit, do the same, and so on until you finish all the settings to your numbers.  then close the door and all the new settings will be saved.

as far as you bill acceptor, change switch #10 on the bottom of the 200 head. this should get your ID set properly, don't forget that the 200 head will accept bills in 4 directions.

Hope this helps

Jim

It will now take the bills and pull them and then put them back out... Some times it will just keep them in the head and that it...

I have taken and cleaned all the optic eyes and wheels inside of it and it still dose the same thing...

Looks like all the switch's on the bottom of the head are all ON...

My question and suggestion in reply #8 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=22947.msg181566#msg181566) above still stands.

Also, what did you use to clean the lenses in the validator? Please use only water on them -- any cleaner can cause permanent damage to them.

But is it the BV or the transpoter that is the issuse?

according to your post "ALL THE SWITCHES ARE ON"  According to the paper work I have  switch 10 on = I/F ID022,  Switch 10 off, default for I/F  ID023. Since you have a SP731, switch 10 should be off.

to test the head on a 200 unit:   remove from the transport (one screw)   remove all three connectors,  turn on switch #6,  turn machine on, plug in the black connector, left side front (power connector)

turn switch #6 off, unit should cycle, insert bill, it will be accepted and go completely through the bill head, or be rejected.  you can use all denominations for this test, actually you can determine exactly what money it will accept (provided the head works) and know if it needs to be updated. you can tell what type you have (Flash or Eprom) when you look at the switches. the chip is right there.

Hope this helps
