Title: DSV00003 Cigar SIMM question
Post by: playwitslotmachines on March 08, 2013, 01:26:19 AM
Hi,
I bought a a 9" IGT Cigar kit from blueridgeslots, I haven't got it yet but I have a quick question. I was watching the Cigar video from BettorSlots, it's a round top, the game's SIMM produces different spin sounds on their machine each time it's played. I went to Casino Niagara last night and played the 9" version, same machine I'm changing to, the SIMM produces the same spin sound over and over. What differs between these two SIMM in the machines? I think that confuses me the most. :128-
Thanks :131-
Tyler

SIMM is the same on Jim's video and what you played in the casino.  I would suspect different version or game chips on Jim's machine compared to what you played in the casino.  The chips control which sounds are pulled from the DSV SIMM.

Thanks Jay, K+ for posting. I think you're right, it depends on the version chip.

The setup that worked for me is:

SB100001
SG000091 GM1/2
VS008X0

If the sounds are always the same it could be that the machine doesn't have a sound simm in it and they are generic sounds.

My 2 coin 3 reel machine has an SG000362 chips and version chip VS009SX0. Will have the SB100001 but currently have the Triple Zesty Hot Peppers 2 coin SB100315  in it. Also has a DSV00042 sound SIMM in it too.

Good catch on the sound change on the roll up sounds . I have 363 in my machine and it ONLY plays the SAME TUNE  not the multiple roll up sounds as in BETTORSLOTS  video.  SO i WTB  a SG000091 game 1 & 2  and VS008X0 as in JIMS  post     Thanks P.B.

Hey P.B,

Try Jim from Blue Ridge Slots, he'll hook you up with the desired Version and SG chips

If it was a backlit strip theme, I'd have it by now.

I guess I just have to ask this question, is there any evidence that a Version chip has anything to do with a sound simm ??  I don't know the ansewer to that question, but I have my doubts. The reason I say this is I use a Hex editor program that can be downloaded for free called HxD, or I can also use my eprom programmer and look at the Binary code that's programmed on a eprom. Now I got tired of counting but there are roughly 10,000 lines that code can be written on and 32 Bytes per line, that's ballpark  320,000 bytes that can be written on a eprom. Want to know how many bytes are written to a Version chip ??  Total of 50, that's it 50 bytes on the whole chip !! And I'm pretty sure 4 of the 50 are the code of the person that wrote the file.

Now we do know the Version will change a machine from multi denom to single denom, but does this eprom have enough info. to change a sound simm ??   :103- :103-

These two pictures at their very best are piss poor, but this damn thing won't let me copy and paste. Top pic. is a Version and what you see is all that's programmed on that chip except the last line has 4 bytes. The other pic. is just a reference to what most bin files look like ( I think it's a SG chip.)

Sorry But a SB000093 is as close as I have.

I don't know how this came about but I have Cigar down as a DSV00029. Guess I could burn a Base chip and sound simm and give it a try, the only problem I see is, I don't know what sounds I'm looking for.

Well now that's just about as clear as mud.  Snip, Snip, Snip are the sounds I hear when I'm in the Barbers Chair.

I guess IGT have their own secret code.  What ever game a V S2000 SLT SNDCR DSV000029 is, I have a sound simm for it.  I'm about half afraid to put it in a machine, with my luck when I turn the power on it will blast off and go into orbit. It's not the loss of the machine that concerns me it's the damn hole in the roof I'll have to repair.

I guess IGT have their own secret code.  What ever game a V S2000 SLT SNDCR DSV000028 is, I have a sound simm for it.  I'm about half afraid to put it in a machine, with my luck when I turn the power on it will blast off and go into orbit. It's not the loss of the machine that concerns me it's the damn hole in the roof I'll have to repair.

Put it in, Put it in!!!!

Put one hand on door and rub top of head with other while printing a ticket and watch for surprise that won't happen with a DSV-3

SO what you are saying is there is a different simms that can be used ??? Or the sound for the TITO is not available ?  The original question WAS . On the roll up sounds  one machine played the same tune Every time and the other machine had alternating roll up sounds  ??  P.B.

Gents,

I may have a solution for the alternating reel spin sounds that may be applicable to various themes.

Another post is coming around it...stay tuned.

I believe this has been covered a few times but here it is again

DSV 2-6 was earliest sound simms in Vision Ready machines (pre S-2000) they were replaced with DSV 27-31 (not in specific order) and simply added TITO Sounds when EZ Pay was added onto machines

DSV-29 is same as DSV-3 with TITO sounds when printing ticket and nothing else

others are:
Titanic (2 versions)
Phantom
Chainsaws

The secret code in the commonly found listing was just from Miss. Approved Program Listing, not IGT

Using the DSV00042 to access the "preferred" sound options and then swapping to the DSV00029 as Yoeddy1 describes in this thread (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=23443.msg183864#msg183864) does work. The machine isn't playing a different song for each spin; it is one long song which plays a short snippet per spin in an endless loop, just like the Munsters does.

great video statfreak. Maybe I should have thought of buying a DSV00029 than the original cigar DSV

As Jim mentioned, the only difference between the 3 and the 29 is that the 29 has TITO sounds.  You should be able to get the same spin sound results with the 3 as shown in Stat's video.
