Post by: Britanski on March 11, 2013, 08:12:20 PM Well I'm new to the slot-owning stuff but I've done plenty of research on the parts and... this is not the board I'm used to seeing. :103- Possible because it's a Slant Top?
This one has only 3 slots... One for "Boot"?, one for "SB", then an "SS" which I think is for an S+ chip. But there are no other Prom slots like others I've seen on other S2000 boards I see the generic S+ base chip. It's a 5 reel, 40 line, Double 3x4x5x pay machine. I need a key chip and would also like to upgrade the basic sound scheme. I asked the vendor to send a key chip with the machine but got nothing...not even a reply. The adapter isn't very expensive Wow, that sounds like a good fix. But in searching... I came up with no real products for this unit. I found some for other machines, esp. the video units. The MPU board you have is called a 1270 board due to the model number of it. The 'R' board is only that top board that sits on the main MPU

He had another auction for just the enhanced board so I bought that one. I see my R board is 2007 where the MB is 2004, same as the enhanced board I ordered. Since the machine was mfg in 2007, I hope I can find the chips I need for this 5 reel, 40 line game. Just an FYI...Age of parts doesn't typically matter too much. Certain parts go with other parts but age isn't usually a way to tell that. The non-enhanced boards (502, 504, etc) have a sound board that can go on top for enhanced sound. The non enhanced MPUs have a particular motherboard that they go with. The enhanced board (1270) can either run older eprom based games with the legacy adapter board or they can run flash based boards built specifically for a single game (R board). The R board allows the games to have more lines or more game play options due to the fact that it isn't as limited on size as an epprom based game set would be. You couldn't have the 247 ways to win type games without the R board. Same goes for the 15 and 20 line games that I have R boards for. I just reread your last post and I see that you have a 40 line game. There may not be eprom chips for it, it may only come in the R board. Yeah, I've been places that have a sh*t-load of chips avail and didn't see anything for a 5R, 40L 3x4x5x game so I may be SOL on that. Maybe I'll ask in another post. Actually, I just wanted to see about upgrading the base sound scheme. Maybe a different SB chip is all I need for this R board? This just has the 'SB 001000'. I'm not sure you can pick and choose sounds options like you can with other games by trying different sound SIMMs.
There should be an option in your settings to switch from legacy sounds to enhanced sounds. Have you tried putting in a Key chip to see which options are added? Hopefully someone with more R board knowledge than me will jump in and steer you in the right direction.
