Post by: rickster on March 14, 2009, 04:58:43 PM
Hello All,

Long time lurker first time poster. Figured if anyone could help me out it would be you guys. I am going to start at the beginning..

I received this machine it top shape..it never ran though as it through a 41 code.. i did everything under the sun check the reels switch the reels reset the game etc...

I then decided to get a new mpu board from ebay.  Got the new board today and loaded in my game and reel chips. Power on the machine and get the imfamous 61.  I push the white test button..nothing..push white test button and close door jackpot reset key turn. Get an 1800 error and the ARM starts clicking and going crazy. Paniiced and turn the jackpot reset key and got 9999 across all aamounts.

What the heck can i do now!!!!  I also saw somebody talk about disconnect door optics..i did that on the right side of my machine and that still didn't work.  I am at a total loss and just want to get my machine up and running.

Please help..

PS this is an older style machine from in 97 as it has the old coin mech not comparitor

-Rick

Rick, check behind reel three in the back right hand corner for a bundle of wires. See if there is a gree/blue wire not connected to anything Will normally have a spade lug on the end of the wire. If it is there strip the end of this wire and ground under a screw that goes into the metal chasis and try to reset the 61 error again. Hope this helps.

Rick    I would hook up the optic that you have undone. Then I would power up, close the door, and continue turning the jackpot reset key while observing the numbers in the display area.  Especially the coins played window.  If you notice the numbers changing  watch as they increase in value, e.g. 3.4 5  etc. as you approach the end of this cycle you will see the number 1 flash then the number 2 flash  then repeat itself this is # 12  the next turn of the key should put you back the the idle mode of the machine. It is here that the true error code or condition of your machine can be evaluated.

Did this board you purchased from eBay state that the board was tested or did you buy as-is??

Worse case we can reinstall the original board and start with your code 41 again!!!

Let us know

Jim

FWIW, there's no way that game is from 1997.  1987, perhaps, but not 1997.   :71-

Is it possible that this isn't an S-Plus? With the side LEDs and no DBV, it could be either an early S-Plus or an S. If it turned out to be an S, it wouldn't support the nudge feature of the Double Diamond Deluxe theme. Perhaps you ought to post a picture of the inside of the machine.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback.  I already hooked back up the door optics i was try trying differnt situations to see what would happen. The machine is from 1991 sorry the 1 looks like a seven at a quick glance.

The older board after fruther inspection is proabbly shot is i see a dark chared spot on one of the smaller chips.

This board is working condition and seller has 100% feedback
"IGT S- PLUS MPU BOARD IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION HAS BEEN TESTED AND WORKS FINE. with SP 1027 chip and 6410 game chip, and frame and transformer "

I removed those chips as when i put the board in as a test it gave me the wrong game error.  I took his chips out and replaced with the ones on my orginal board.

At startup got the 61 normally a quick clear but this machine is wigging out.

There are no wires in the upper right corner execpt for the coin counters and i dont think that will help.

I can say there were TONS of coins all over the machine... do you think something could have happen to the little mother board that i plugg the mpu into..?

here are a bunch of pics

Since your battery was dead. You will need to do a ram clear.

Basically,
I believe you're clearing the ram on the CMOS chip (on the MPU board in position #U56) next to your Game eprom.
You are also at the same time clearing the tiny, little 8-pin 24C04 chip (on the motherboard in position #U1 way over to the left side.
I may be slightly incorrect and am welcome to any corrections on this.
