Title: I game no sound Post by: brianfink on March 29, 2013, 10:27:33 AM One of my 17"I games has no sound I swapped some parts with another machine and tracked the problem down to the power supply. I was wondering every thing else is getting power do the any of the fans or lights use the same voltage as the sound amp?
Title: Re: I game no sound Post by: brianfink on April 06, 2013, 10:34:24 AM I found a 12 volt adapter and hooked it into the sound amp and it works fine actually no static or humming at all. And I noticed that the machine that I tested the voltage going to the amp on read almost 13.5 volts amd my ac adapter voltage is only about 12.5 could that be part of the reason some machines hum?
Title: Re: I game no sound Post by: CommTech on April 06, 2013, 11:12:29 AM If a power supply is not well filtered (by design or have old Capacitors), there may be a 60 cycle ripple on the DC Voltage output which may be heard as a 60 Hz hum when amplified by your audio circuit.
So it's not the one volt difference, but the amount of filtering in the power supply. Title: Re: I game no sound Post by: brianfink on April 07, 2013, 11:22:21 AM The adapter I'm useing is for a bally systems amp so that makes alot of sense.
