Title: Dongle? Post by: LT Games on March 16, 2009, 12:51:22 AM i just got some Atronics games cashline, but there is a "printer error" which locks the game up. I wanted to clear it but don't have the chips or dongle so i was told. Does anyone have any idea where i can find these things?

Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 16, 2009, 11:47:13 PM Please tell me that you really mean $2 (as in 8 quarters perhaps?) and not $200.00 dollars! :96-
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: blueridgeslots on March 17, 2009, 02:22:22 AM No, 200 Bucks
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: brichter on March 17, 2009, 02:36:20 AM Probably a HASP-based device, those are pretty much unbreakable from a security standpoint and they cost the big bucks!!
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: jay on March 17, 2009, 01:09:00 PM The components themselves are not that expensive but the working encryption is.....
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: brichter on March 17, 2009, 01:35:34 PM Yup.
There's not a whole lot of components that are expensive any more, it's the software that incurs most of the cost. Funny how the most expensive part has the worst warranty.Just read any of the EULAs you have to agree to when you install software nowadays... :30- :30- Title: Re: Dongle? Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: kforeman on March 17, 2009, 10:19:50 PM you're also going to need the atronic main config program on a laptop to connect to the game, some of the secure settings, i.e. par, button configuration, etc. can only be programmed in by using the config program on a laptop.
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: blueridgeslots on March 17, 2009, 10:24:41 PM I think he got the kit new, thanks, I was fortunate to get a few friends here to help me out, I got the old dos SW, but am going to be getting the newer windows software soon, thanks to all the great people here who helped out
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: edski on March 17, 2009, 10:44:14 PM Back to the original question.
Is the Dongle needed to clear the error, or is the missing dongle causing the error. Ed Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: kforeman on March 18, 2009, 12:06:29 AM the dongle is needed to interface between the machine and a laptop, it is installed in the comm. port on the laptop. and i believe the cable from dongle to machine mpu is pinned differently, not just a standard db-9. been awhile for the cashlines but we had enough problems with them to become pretty proficient on them.
edit: well i was totally wrong about the port that the dongle is connected to on the laptop. :25- :52- it is actually connected to the db-25 parallel port, it just chills out there while you are connected to the machine :89- Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: edski on March 18, 2009, 03:18:41 AM That's why I was asking.
All the guy wants to do is clear the printer error. Do you need several hundred bucks worth of dongles, cables, computers, software just to clear an error??? :103- :103- :103- If so, I'll stay away from atronic games! :81- :89- Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: blueridgeslots on March 18, 2009, 03:24:24 AM The error is in reconfiguring the machine, if trying to add or remove hardware you need this, the platform is Cashline, the older platform is WBC, newer is Emotion, if the game is configured and working then no big deal, but to go from hopper to printer or similar, yes then you do need the equipment
Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: edski on March 18, 2009, 03:43:07 AM I understand now. :89- :89-
So unless you have all the goodies, buyer beware... Ed Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: TZtech on March 18, 2009, 08:35:12 AM Hello
Please PM me and i can help with SW. Have a look at this thread http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=2321.new#new (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=2321.new#new) The Dongle I recieved from Atronic looks totally different to the pic posted by blueridge slots. Mine looks like a memory stick and goes into the USB port. We should have some feedback from Jim if the new SW will work with the old dongle soon. Regards Ian Title: Re: Dongle? Mine looks like a memory stick and goes into the USB port. We should have some feedback from Jim if the new SW will work with the old dongle soon. Regards Ian Atronic upgraded its security keys to "USB type" recently as laptops aren't coming with p-port anymore. It should work with the same software (MainConfig for general configuration and AlinkConfig for Jackpot configurations) The one showed in the picture is the old model and probably the same most of us have cause Atronic is very closed with its security stuff... I only have seen twice the usb one. BTW: 400 USD for a dongle!!!!!!! :127- :127- :127- :127- :127- too much :148- :148- :148- :56- :56- :56- :56- for a change of settings as someone already said!!!! Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: Billythekid on July 06, 2009, 09:30:21 PM Regarding security dongles, I use software in my stores that requires a little USB dongle, it's included with the software but if you don't return it after quiting the monthly maintenance plan it's $1000!! It's a great way to get paid for creating specialty software... I only pay $70 a month for invaluable software with top notch 24 hour support by people in America who speak english. Amazing what you can do when you get paid to do it, i.e. the software developers. I'm sure that dongle is given to casino techs for free when they buy a bunch of machines. Lucky for Atronic hobbiest owners those dongles aren't keyed to the machine IDs, as they could be. That would force all repair to be done by authorized dealers/techs trained by Atronic...
Keep having fun! Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: jay on July 07, 2009, 10:01:50 PM Nothing to say that one cannot increase profit by offshoring support Dongle'd or not.
The economics of offshoring are not what they used to be. Here is a news report that says US dollars no longer welcome at the Taj due to currency devaluation. Its the BBC so at least its not biased. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/thestar/obituary.aspx?n=craig-leech&pid=129245879 (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/thestar/obituary.aspx?n=craig-leech&pid=129245879) In the early 80's the company I worked for ported some MainFrame software that evaluated Oil and Gas reserves to the PC platform. It used ERCB (energy resource conservation board data) to do decline analysis on the reserves. I used to program parallel port dongles for a set number of runs at about $700 per run. When the dongle ran out they sent it back to us to be refilled. We used to charge $10K/mth unlimited, same as what we charged for the Mainframe software. CD Pubco came out and undercut us by charging $29.95/mth for all you can eat. All the data was distributed on one CD and updated bi-weekly. They made more out of renting CD players than they did on the software. This was in the days when not everyone had a PC on their desk and internal CD players were not available. This was one on-shore company doing it to another. You can't blame offshoring for a unstainable business model. Title: Re: Dongle? I have all the original software from Atronic - Hardlock and Main Config, but it cannot find the dongle. I have tried 3 different computers and different operating systems but always the same error.
I also had the old parallel port type(which worked great), but that got stolen recently. I now have 6 Atronic Cashlines off with errors and a frustrated boss on my tail. As always, any and all help is appreciated. Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: stayouttadabunker on October 20, 2011, 01:37:27 PM If the dongle uses a USB type of port, check that your machines' USB port
settings are enabled and supported? I would suggest getting a security camera to prevent further theft... :5- Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: beko on October 20, 2011, 01:44:01 PM Yes,
As soon as you plug in the USB dongle, Windows goes online and loads the drivers automatically. You can watch this happening in device manager under the USB setting. When I use the Atronic hardlock.exe installation it does exactly the same thing but with older versions of the 3 items that get installed. Sadly that did not work either. Title: Re: Dongle? Post by: TZtech on October 21, 2011, 05:45:09 PM I no longer have acess to PC or dongle but had similar problems at previous employer running on a XP PC. If I recall correctly I downloaded another driver from the internet. You can try this http://www.hasp.com/support/hasp/hasp4/vendor.aspx#latestDT.
There is also sw available that allows you to do a read once on the dongle that will then allow you to operate the sw without the dongle. Will go through all my docs and see if i can find it. |
