Title: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 17, 2013, 02:21:11 AM Great webpage! Glad I found this place.
Is there anyone out there that has a Bally E2333-2 or knows about them? I've already sent a PM to someone here for help with a manual for it. I'll probably still have some troubleshooting questions... Thanks, Scott Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: tkrozleski on April 17, 2013, 02:59:03 PM Scott,
Post your error codes and description of problems. Post some pics of your machine also. We can get it running for ya. Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 18, 2013, 01:14:09 AM Here's the background of my machine:
I bought it on Craigslist as a non-working machine. I contacted Games People Play in Bullhead City, Arizona and they were a tremendous help. We determined that my power supply needed to be rebuilt and battery replaced on another board. After that, the machine actually powered-up, accepted coins and would spin. The main issues remaining are: 1. The progressive scores on the top show crazy numbers and never change. 2. When the hopper tries to spin, you hear a terrible sound and it barely moves 3. After a few spins, it tilts and doesn't reset easily. I have inspected the hopper and it will spin by hand, once I move the little stop out of the way. The middle rubber piece is rotting and very sticky but that's not related to the problem. Thanks to one of the members, I have a manual now. I haven't run the tests yet, but will try to do that tonight. I just wanted to post some info and pics to maybe see if anyone knew what was going on. Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Amachanic on April 18, 2013, 01:11:35 PM Try this for your hopper issue.. Put a few drop of oil in the oiling holes on the motor shaft end and on the gear box. It's a very small hole with a fiber inside to soak up the oil. The hole is maybe 1/16" square. Put a few drop in each hole then spin the hopper and reoil. You have to turn the hopper upside down to get at one if I remember right.

First, I found something startling. I was taking the board out of the hopper to inspect and found a bicycle spanner inside! Who in the world thought that was a good idea?!? Anyway, it did arc at sometime and probably damaged the board. See pics on next few posts. New question is: do I dare put the card back in and power it up with the known damage or have someone repair it first? I want to get the error codes but don't know if I should even try yet. Thank you! Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 18, 2013, 08:59:53 PM First photo shows spanner between shroud and card.
Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 18, 2013, 09:03:37 PM The damage on the back corresponds with the piece labeled AS-2981-5 and the large black spot is to the largest, yellow circular piece. Sorry, I know nothing about electronics so I don't even know what to call them. Circuits?
Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: tkrozleski on April 18, 2013, 09:14:49 PM I think you should replace the board. I'm surprised you were able to get your machine running at all.
Being there was some grounding/shorting out going on, Check all your fuses with a meter. Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 18, 2013, 09:35:02 PM That's what I'll do.
With damage like this, is the board fixed by someone or simply replaced completely? Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Amachanic on April 18, 2013, 09:39:30 PM Most E-Series hoppers have fuse. So check that fuse first. I wouldn't be afraid to try the board again.. Worst thing is that it won't work or blows the fuse. You could buy a replacement from Foxsslots, or he might even repair them, but I'm not 100% sure.
Gary Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: proten on April 18, 2013, 11:27:39 PM If the led on the hopper board was lit then the fuse is blown.
I agree with Amachanic - put the board back in ,check the fuse and power it up. One of two things will happen. 1- The hopper board will work . 2- The fuse will blow . If you decide to replace it, Barry has a re engineered board he sells on eBay and I would like to get your old board to see if it can be repaired. Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 18, 2013, 11:42:49 PM I finished oiling the hopper and getting ready to reinstall the board when I noticed something else. See pic....
Definately need a new board. I found Foxsslots eBay page and found the exact looking board. Some of the numbers are different but physically the same. I will order it when I know it will work even though the numbers are different. Proten, do you still want my old board now that we know it has severed connections protruding from the board? Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 19, 2013, 12:08:17 AM Barry said it will work. Just ordered! More later....
Thanks everyone so far. Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: proten on April 19, 2013, 12:17:33 AM Looks good - PM sent.
Title: Re: Bally E2333-2 questions Post by: Scott-AZ on April 23, 2013, 01:56:11 AM Quick update: The new hopper board from Barry arrived today. Plugged it in and it works great. Hopper spins freely and the machine plays correctly.
The two jackpot readouts on top are still wrong (same as original pic above). Didn't have time tonight to run all the tests but the kids played dozens of quarters and it only tilted when the hopper ran out of quarters. I'll try to run all the tests tomorrow and post the results. Thanks again for the help. It may help with the display on top?
