Title: Game and Glass Storage
Post by: Regislive on April 21, 2013, 11:22:45 AM
Hello all!

I have a question I just got my first set of game chips and a set of glass for my Igame chop top machine.  Since I'm starting to buy new games and glass I have a question.

1)  What is the best way to store the chips (eproms)?  Just like in a case with foam?  I need some ideas please.

2) What is the best way to store the glass?  Tote boxes with bubble wrap?

I plan on buying over time like 10 or so games for my I game machine and just want to enusre they are protected the best way possible.  Also I have been hearing I should make a back-up copy of the chips?  Is this really hard to do, can I back them up on a computer or just back them up on a blank chip (I'm not really computer or electronic savy but with the price of the games I'd hate to break a prong and then be out the game).

So just looking for what you all do on storing everything.  I want to protect my investments.

Thanks everyone.

I think your ideas on storing the glass and chips will work if you look threw the s2000 section you might find more ideas, a lot of s2000 owners like to switch kits, it's a lot easyer than the video machines. As far as backing up the chips you can get a chip burner fairly cheap, and it's not to hard to do, but most Igame software uses simm cards, and the only simm burner I have seen costs about 1,200. Also the simms are very sensitive, you should always wear a static wrist strap when handling them, and store them in a static bag.

I have used several methods for storing glass -as long as the glass is not in direct sunlight or have heat below it or in close proximity of heat etc  . .

this picture is simple takes a short timeto do .

try  Wall Mart or local hardware store  buy a dozen packs mirror hangers .
find the studs on most walls 16 inches on center . 16 inch top glass i use 3 clamps on bottom 3 clamps on top .
easy with screw gun and Phillips head ..

if needed for a game change its on the wall  grab a sheet for a game swap and replace it with what you took out of machine etc  .

other method i have used as many other members . take a 2 x 3 or 2 x 4 x 8 feet or 10 or 12 feet long -depending on length of room etc . router out a 5/16 inch groove on thin side of 2x4 aka the 2-inch side mount the 2x4 on the flat against wall with long wood screws to studs . then make the same for a top piece and slide glass in and out.
as long as its set up for a row of all upright belly glass and all upright 16-inch or 9 inch chop top or round top  use the walls for storage and dress up your game room ..
other uses are old clothes cabinets with rubber on floor of drawer -just don't over load the drawer ..
use other draws for reel strips and proms etc .

same story mount on wall in game room . dresses up the place gives you a nice atom asphere

this takes a super short time to do if you want to dress up your game room with glass
i have one wall  60 feet long 5-sheets wide the entire length .. to dark to get a good picture ..

Here are some of my wall storage for 9" glass.

The wall storage idea came from Jay. There were made from 3 standard
shaped pieces of trim that you can buy at Lowe's or home Depot. You can
store your Award glass and Belly glass together. The strips are fastened to
the wall studs and the holes covered with a wooded buttons.

Here is my reel strip and reel glass storage. The one is a cabinet I built
with reel glass storage below. The other is in a desk drawer.
