Title: KT-1903 N Kortek Monitors
Post by: Miggidy on March 19, 2009, 12:33:03 AM
I have two monitors which have on the very top of the monitor Horizontal lines, 90 percent of the monitor display is normal except for the very top where these lines appear.
Have changed out C107, 108, 123, 126, 408, 421 & NTE 2353, this made the display nice and clear and sharp but still have these Horizontal lines up on top of both CRT's.

Suggestions anyone?

There's probably several other bad capacitors in there. Generally the factory used crappy capacitors (just like Wells-Gardner) so you might want to whip out the ESR meter and check for more "marginal" ones.

I have a pdf schematic on that one. The caps you will need to change are in the verticle section all 500 series caps.
try c505, 509 510 first

I have found IC101 is a KA2S0880 – could be a problem - -  A SMPS with minimal external component. The
SPS consist of high voltage sense FET – and current mode PWM IC
included control IC feature a TR-immed oscillator under voltage
lock out.
Some times – (very few times I have had to replace IC101 –
KA2S0880)

i have refurbished kt1903 chassis for sale, $90 each. if you want one please let me know, i accept paypal. i can do it through ebay if you would like. i think i have 5 of them right now, but i would have to look.

i also have the newer kt-1983 chassis i will sell for $120, for these i will have to send you a new plug with it, as the plugs are different for the 1903 and the 1982. i like to upgrade whenever i can, because the newer 1982's have very few prioblems.

if you want the 1982 i also need to know if yours has the big bow plug (21 pin) or the small one (17 pin i think)

$90 each, I would think our casino would be sitting on a gold mine.

Not to suggest your price is too high or anything like that.

It's just that a lot of casino's have replaced CRT with LCD and so far has been unable to sell them -
the only useable part would be the touch screen controller (The monitor works) but the casino don't need them.

If we trash them - it would cost about $10 each -

they may have someone coming in next week to look at them - now they are looking to give them away.
but they would have to take all of them. that would free up a lot of space in storage.

The Casino could not (nor- would they want to) deal with anyone except a company - Do think ours will be gone next week.

I'm just thinking if there was a market for things like that - Maybe I need to get a license so I can pick up on some of the old parts casino's don't need or want.  Just a thought!!!

All the 19" monitors for IGT games that I have seen have been the 19 Pin Plug, IGT changed to the 25pin Plug when they went to LCD. They did not have to do that - except in doing so they could sell more parts for a conversion.

The only difference between the two are where they tie the common together for R-G-B.
The 19 Pin plug is tied together on the Monitor side, when they went to the 25 pin plug they tie them together on the machine side.

Still can get a 19 pin plug (LCD) in install in the IGT game and save on all other other parts they are selling for the conversion.
Yes we have LCD's with the 19 pin plug, in an IGT game with the 044 boards.

ok this problem might be the dynamic focus board D903 i believe can cause the black lines on the screen however also c901 on that board should be changed with it. i would also do what firebird said and check those caps as well c503,c504
