I have a customers machine that comes up with the message "ram wrong". The battery was dead and lightly corroded. I replaced the battery and cleaned the corrosion, but still the same message. Is there a clear RAM procedure on this? Any Ideas greatly apprieciated.
By the way, I am a new member, looks like a great site!!!

Turn the Jackpot reset key on the side one time

If the switches are not marked, there are three key switches. the front one is the reset switch. the second one is the meters switch,  the third one is the last games played switch.

Then I assume by changing the battery, there is no other chip or anything needed (like the ballys), and game should work ok after reset. It is a little bit of a drive back there, so I just want to make sure of all the possibilities.  Thanks alot for the help. My specialty is pinballs any help I can be in return, glad to help.

Tom      there's no guarantee that there are no other problems, but you won't know until you reset that error and see what happens. Under normal conditions it should take care of it.

As for the battery, its been a while since I came across a Sigma-50, I remember that there were two types of batteries a weird looking square black battery , and a long drain type of capacitor.   even with good batteries, after the machine has been off awhile it still would put up the "rams wrong" error.
so show your client that if it happens  again what they could do to fix it themselves .

hey guys i have a question about these old sigma as well...i have about 4 of them with this same problem.the drain capacitors are no good...and were im at i cannot buy them can any other battry works or can i  by pass this error.everytime the machines looses power this error come up

can any other type of battery be used?

It is not a battery...It is a capacitor of 1F and has a very slow discharge rate at 5.5v...I would not attempt to use a battery there...Have you tried leaving your machine on for a few days and let the cap charge to full?...IF so, does the machine give you the error right after charging and turning the power off then back on...If so, the cap is bad...

Replace the cap as noted in the above post...

ok...thanks guys..i also having problem with the display or the power for the board...the display keeps turning off

Sounds like power supply

I rebuilt the power supply on my sigma 32 and rams wrong came up on the display. I reset the machine with the key and now the display is blank. any suggestions?
