Title: Bally 5500: U12 out of order
Post by: epb0 on May 14, 2013, 07:46:57 PM
Hi,

On my Bally 5500 (motherboard AS-3356-201), EPROM U12 is unfortunately out of order.

My set is:
U3: SE950001-1-3
U4: SE950001-1-2
U12: ME950000-1-1
U15: ME950000-1-0

Someone could be help me to replace this EPROM ( Using my burner it shows that it is bad) ?
If this U12  is unavailable (I don't find it...), a another compatible set for my 5500 satisfy me !

Thanks you for your help.

Regards.

It is against the site rules to post or request bin/rom files.  You can request chips though.

Thanks,
Wayne

Sorry for the rules violation.

Of course, I'm interest by chips if someone have it, or know where I can have it.

Thanks.

Hi Eric,

This link might help you :

Thanks you very much for this helpful link.

Unfortunatly, I had error 65 (mechanical meter disconnect, french only) after.
So, I change market code with SW7 (go "France nominal" to "New Mexico").

Now, I have no error code but slotmachine doesn't work:
- "inser coin" blink
- if I insert token, they go to hopper but "coin in" and "credit" stay to "0"
- only 2 dot (no number or letter) in "win pay"
- a noise in loudspeaker.

That sounds like an additional problem................

the 2 dot means a game hasn't been played yet -  so somehow the coin going in is not registering

what about cash?

the coin optic block is likely for a larger coin.  this would allow the coin to go in without breaking the view of the optics.  see attached pic.

Thanks you for your help.

In fact, coin optic decoder board in the door (ref AS-3356-303, U1 PIC16C54 failure) bad.

I try with a new board (come from a S6000 who well work) and:
- still noise in loudspeaker after init,
- "inser coin" blink
- if I push on SW1 on coin board (dorr open), credit is accepted,
- if I insert token, sometime there is a credit (1 time arround on 10, no rules)
- when coin is accepted, I can play.

Voltage on coin optic board is OK (5,10V for 5V and 26,90V for 25V).
I change U1 (74HC244) on MPU board, without effect....

Do you have a idea ?

Regards.
