At one point they were reporting that Moore Medical Center is gone.

My wife was in OKC the last 10 days visiting her folks. Bracketed by 4 funnels, Edmond, Norman, Luther (about 8 miles away) and of course, Shawnee. She was in the airport this afternoon and they hustled everyone in the basement about the time the funnel hit Moore. She was delayed several hours but she made it home safe and the in-laws are fine.

Glad to hear everyone's ok. Can't imagine the devastation the community/area has experienced.

We have members in OK, but not sure of the proximity to Moore. Hopefully they are all well.

Around 1960 my Sister and Brother in law bought 160 acres in Moore OK  Bart was born in Oklahoma and knew his way around. Anyway before he built their new house he by hand dug a Tornado shelter I remember my Sister saying it wasn't all that deep, that Bart had hit some really hard dirt and figured he and my Sister were pretty short so it was deep enough. In 1961 I ask his why a shelter and he said that area in Moore was known to be a Tornado Ally.

Point being if you build your house on a Rail Road track, it shouldn't be any supprise if a train runs over it. I think that's called putting yourself in harms way. As a white guy if I went down to South Central LA about midnight should I be supprised if I ran into some trouble ??

Feel sorry for the Kids in Oklahome, they didn't know any better some dumb shit adult put them in harms way.

I seen one lady's tornado shelter and it was approx 6'x10' and stuck about 18" above ground. She said it was the best $2,000 she's ever spent..at this point, I'd have to agree with her.

The mayor of Moore said only about 10% of the homes had a shelter of any kind.  :103-  I don't get that at all, since they've already had a couple severe tornados. But, I guess it's like floods or earthquakes in California...hindsight's 20/20 when it comes to preparedness.

Where's our OK members? I know Buzzarama is in OK, but from the map, he doesn't look to be close.
