Title: Main door and Bill door open
Post by: therockinelvis on June 03, 2013, 06:15:07 PM
I am getting a message for main and bill door open. The bill door is wired together. The machine goes crazy flashing call attendant and normal play. After a while it stops and game can then play. I took the green battery out months ago and just replaced the main battery as that message appeared also. While it is acting up, if you push the play credits it will lock up and have to open door turn key and close door sometimes multiple times. When it is doing this it plays the generic sounds instead of the Pink Panther tune, but then the next spin all is normal. I have plugged and unplugged removed and replaced the board. Any idea's?

If this is a vision game check the CMOS battery in the top box. Also check for corrosion damage where the green battery used to be as a key trace for door closures runs underneath where it mounts

there are 2 diodes??right next to where the green battery was. they had some green on them. I brushed them off. I checked under the board and it looked fine.

Odds are it didn't hurt the components, it's trace damage you're looking for because they are much more susceptible to acid

so should I get a new board?

No, but it is wise to have a spare in any case. There's other things it can be, like that top box CMOS battery if it's a vision game

I can tell you right now brushing the green off isn't good enough. The acid needs to be neutralized, two things I use is baking soda, or Pepsi/Coke Cola and my Wife's toothbrush.

how about vinegar? Is the baking soda done as a paste?

I re,
member seeing that battery. Ithunk it is inside the monitor. Looked like a pain to get to. Can it be remote mounted like the main board with a aa holder?

These are mAh type batteries. They work with (and leak) alkaline.
A mild acid like vinegar with water or coke will work. Baking soda is going the wrong way on the PH scale
OK I feel better now.
Buzz is correct wiping or brushing is not enough!
Battery can be removed from the top of the board just use a small tipped solder iron.

So is it OK to use an AA holder and remote mount to the outside of the monitor?

As far as the CMOS battery in the vision computer in the top box, it is actually pretty easy to get to, six screw I believe. I just had one with a dead battery and it would play fine but would drain the lower MPU battery rather quickly and throw all kinds of errors

Don't know that answer I was talking about the green battery on the MPU

I wouldn't mess around modifying the top box computer for a different battery. A good replacement, if it's needed, should last for years

My thought involved a dog's butt....but since we don't have a dog butt emoticon, that one works just as well... :72-

I changed the board. Everything is fine now. Apparently the green battery leakage messed up the traces. I read some where on here about DISABLING the optics ( not by-passing). Is this something that can be done to still use the board? I'm getting quite a pile of bad boards around S+ and S2K. The trick with the wifes toothbrush work's great.

Don't be too quick to toss those boards....what we don't know today can save a lot of $$$ in the future.Tag the boards with what the error was, and when you find the cause/fix for the error, you can repair the boards (or swap out the faulty component that cause the error) and save yourself from buying a new board. Happens with all of us.

Repair for that is to follow each trace to the two nearest solder points on each side of the bad spot and put a jumper wire in. As far as I know there is no way to disable the door optics other than the standard bypass using the cherry switch. IGT had no reason to program their games to be convenient for the home user or to relax the security of the machine in a casino environment
