Title: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 04:36:56 PM Turned this machine on and it went through a fairly long boot up process then stopped booting and came up with these messages. Any ideas to what I can start checking for?
Thanks, David Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on June 08, 2013, 04:48:08 PM Had it been working before or did you just get it? I would check top box CPU CMOS battery first if it's been working and quit
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 04:51:36 PM Just got it, is the top box battery a coin type that slides in or the green battery type that has to be soldered in?

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: lindam1 on June 08, 2013, 05:16:08 PM I would also check both Batteries on the MPU Board

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 08:18:23 PM Will it have to be soldered onto the board?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 10:44:48 PM Just changed the 2032 battery inside the top box computer it was dead. Turned the game back on and it went through the boot up process and it halted at the screen below and I am still getting the COMM error message in the display. Anything else I could check for?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: idesign on June 08, 2013, 11:00:11 PM So you just decided to change out the kit from something else to Bucks Ahoy? I bet you didn't change out the BIOS chip did you?
Also, if the battery was dead then all the settings were lost and you have to hook up a keyboard to the monitory to set it up. Otherwise, it will not boot. Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 11:13:17 PM No, this machine has always been a Buck's Ahoy, so everything should be as it was before. Other than the time and date (which I just did), are there any other settings I will need to change from the keyboard in the BIOS settings?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: lindam1 on June 08, 2013, 11:38:15 PM You shouldn't have to do anything in the bios. the only thing it may have lost is the current date. not important, but you need to check the MPU batts. if one or both are dead you'll get the comm error. when you 1st turn on do you see the "reel touch finger"in the middle of the screen or the "energy star" logo in the right corner
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 08, 2013, 11:54:18 PM yes, I see both of those, I will check the voltage on the 2 batteries of the the main board.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: idesign on June 09, 2013, 11:52:05 AM No, this machine has always been a Buck's Ahoy, so everything should be as it was before. Other than the time and date (which I just did), are there any other settings I will need to change from the keyboard in the BIOS settings? Well, your messages are confusing. Earlier you said you just got the game. The battery also holds the settings for the boot process. You need to reset them. Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 09, 2013, 12:22:46 PM My 1st reply to cowboy said I just got the game, the previous owner said it had always been a Buck's Ahoy, it had been sitting powered down for some time, that's the way I recieved the machine, what other bios settings will I need to change? Will I need to reset factory defaults? If I was confusing with my wording, I apologize.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 09, 2013, 04:57:24 PM ok, just checked both batteries on the main board and they are both good, still getting the COMM error message.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: idesign on June 09, 2013, 05:15:54 PM Looking at the photo you posted if it's stuck in that DIG ................... then there is a problem with the files on the HD. Normally you don't see DIG and SIG unless you have a NJ version chip.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 09, 2013, 05:37:50 PM So do you think I need another hard drive or another set of SB and SG chips?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: idesign on June 09, 2013, 05:42:30 PM The fact that this machine was supposedly working before suggests that the files on the HD are messed up if it locks up at that point in your photo. What SB and SG chips are you using?

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: PEGASUS on June 09, 2013, 08:32:42 PM So do you think I need another hard drive or another set of SB and SG chips? David, the hard drive is looking for correct sb/sg as discuscussed. At that point clear,re-set and as jeff had said have keyboard installed to restore factory defaults. Once all that Syncs up you will have diff. results. -Peg. Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 01:56:37 AM I am now getting a "protocol mismatch" will I need to use a clear chip to resolve this? If so, can I use the same clear chip I always use on my S2000 machines?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: coorslight115 on June 23, 2013, 02:26:19 AM Unless I missed it, you never stated what board ie: 504, ect you have. And what Sb and what SG chip set you are running. A clear ivc97 or 224 will work if it is a 502, 503 or 504. If you have enhanced might need something else, but doughtful you have anything other than a 504 in a reel touch.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 02:36:56 AM It has a 504 board and I am using a SB000476 and SG 1&2 SG000239

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on June 23, 2013, 03:09:49 AM Which reel touch screen do you vet when it first starts? Red or energy star?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 03:10:37 AM energy star
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on June 23, 2013, 03:25:28 AM The 224 will work in either case, but probably won't take care of the problem. Do you know if your top box ram is good?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on June 23, 2013, 03:27:51 AM Mine are energy star and my SB is a 326 forty five coin and the SG chips are 336. Got mine and the HD and the bios chip from Idesign, but had to replace two bad ram chips in the top box also
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: lindam1 on June 23, 2013, 08:47:06 AM A protocol mismatch is when your SB & SG chips don't match what's on the hard drive
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: lindam1 on June 23, 2013, 09:04:48 AM Are you sure the SB is 326 and not 526. I have a very complete list and don't have 326
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: idesign on June 23, 2013, 12:04:20 PM If you are getting a protocal mismatch then then the software is not matched up. So one or all of the chips and the files on the HD are not compatible with each other.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 12:53:19 PM The SB chip is actually SB000476, I looked up the SB chip #s and that one just has Reel Touch slot as a definition for what it is. I may just need to get another set of SB and SG chips altogether. Lindam1, I tried the hard drive you sent me in the Bucks Ahoy and it gave me the same results, but I put it into one of the other reel touch games I have and used the Denver Duck chips that I had and that game came up and worked fine, bonus rounds and all. It is a 300 credit max chip, would I be better off using a 90 credit max to get better sounds or is that just for S2000 5 reel machines?

I would use what ever your button deck is set up for unless you have other legions for 300 credits. My is 75 credits with SB-562 & SG-301. Lin Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 01:27:22 PM I am using a VS011GXO instead of the VS009GX0, would that cause the protocol mismatch? I'm pretty sure I have some VS009GXO chips here somewhere.
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on June 23, 2013, 01:29:07 PM BR, So it won't affect game sounds like on a S2000 standard 5 reel machine if I use something over 90 credit?I would use what ever your button deck is set up for unless you have other legions for 300 credits. Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on July 06, 2013, 12:13:42 AM No, just the one machine, I tried a different 504 board and now it is working fine. Thanks for all your help guys. One other question, what version chip should I be using in these reel touch games?
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: lindam1 on July 06, 2013, 12:18:12 AM there are only 2. try the other if the 1st won't work.

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on July 06, 2013, 01:06:59 AM Single denom or multidenom shouldn't make a difference so either the 9x0 or 11gx1 should be fine

Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: cowboygames on July 06, 2013, 01:30:34 AM Either one, same result, basically the same board
Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on July 06, 2013, 05:52:47 AM I think I have the wrong SB and SG chips for my Bios 2 hard drive, the ones I have are SB000476 and SGs are 000239. I looked those up and they are not listed as Bucks Ahoy chips but they are listed as "reel touch slot" are those some type of generic chips. What would be the correct chips to go with the Bios 2 hard drive? I would like the game to be a 45 or a 90 credit game. For the 45 credit set up it looks like I will need one of these 3 sets of SB and SG chips:
Sb566 Sg535 SB566 SG323 Thanks, David Title: Re: Getting a MSVERIFY and a COMM error message on a Buck's Ahoy Post by: Ron (r273) on July 06, 2013, 10:34:22 AM Hey David, you need to come by and check my Buck's Ahoy machine.
It has a SG000239 and SB000476 to add to the confusion. :103- Ron (r273) |
