Title: PLEASE Help with IGT Sizzling 7's Coin Comparator Error
Post by: mrcrazy on June 13, 2013, 01:43:26 AM
Hmm where to start... I picked up a IGT Sizzling 7s today cheap. Replaced battery, & have the game running somewhat. The problem I have is the game will not accept coins. I can play it by hitting the small button on the opto board inside the door to simulate credits, but thats it. I have a manual & know how to get into the input tests, & I have jumpered the opto's on the door... I can make the test 13 on the input test change from 13-0 to 13-1.. so I doubt thats it. Jumpered the cash box switch too. The bottom light on the candle is blinking medium... never goes away. I have fooled the comparator & taken the rake off of it...but when I drop a coin I get the 21 error & I CANT erase the error normally...I have to remove the cmos chip & do a reset... Oh & the reset!! When I do a rest...it says 61.... when I hold the button in I DO NOT get the 61-1, soon as I tap the white button it pauses & rolls the reels & is in game mode!
Its just acting funny, like even though I have the door optos jumpered it seems to know the game is open!
On the comparator in question, it s CC16D 24 volt AC... & I have the voltage all the way to the comparator... till I plug it in...then it goes go .6  pretty much dead... could it be the comparator is shorted? Maybe a ram clear?? Please help, im somewhat versed in these but this one has me stumped!!!

Some SP chips don't go from 61 to 61-1 -- they just go from 61 to spinning up and ready to go.

When you close the door, do the displays go blank for a second or two before returning to life?  If not, that would indicate that your machine isn't seeing the door as closed.  The first thing I would do is hook up a set of factory optics to the main door, rather than trying to bypass them.

I'm a little confused.   :103-

In your earlier post, you implied that you're bypassing the optics, but in your most recent post you said it has optics.  Which is correct?

Also, what do you mean by "in test mode you can't get them to close"?

Do you have any spare parts or other working machines you can borrow from to try a set of known good optics on the door to eliminate them as a cause of your problem?  Be aware that there is a sending optic and a receiving optic in each pair, and they need to be hooked up in the right places (use the color coded wires as your guide).

Yep, it WAS the optos in the door. I DID have a parts machine, replaced them & it went into game mode... it now works great!!

thanks guys!!
