Title: S2000 - What chips do I need - also swapping RAM chips Post by: Gomer on June 20, 2013, 03:19:31 PM Hey all. Have a couple of S2000 5 reel machines.
They both work fine, but for future debugging what chips should I have on hand? Is eBay the best place to purchase these chips? Also, thanks to this forum one of the machines had a coin hopper out error. There was no coin hopper and I could not change the hopper setting with credits on the machine. Switched the RAM chips, cleared the errors, set the hopper to zero, and I am up and running. Is it a good idea to clear the RAM on the other machine just because it is 11 years old? If yes, should I use a clear chip or could I just switch the RAM chips? Can I bypass the cash box door switch by capping the wires together? It was pinched when closing the door One more thing, one of the reels is a bit wobbly. How do you fix this or should I leave it alone? First post. Appreciate any help. A Clear and Key chip for your machines would be handy to have, just in case you ever need them. Same set for both machines. Clear 97 and Key 31 is my suggestion. No need to clear the machines if they are working fine, age is irregardless. The Clear chip erases all of the data and the Key chip allows access to the Operator menus to reconfigure the machine. Again, if the machine is playing fine, there is nothing to gain from Clearing it. If there is a setting you would like to change (and cannot access currently), a Key chip will allow access to it, without clearing the entire machine memory. A few changes will require a full Clear though. You can absolutely bypass the cash box door switch. I believe there is a sticky thread near the top of the S2000 forum. As far as a wobbly reel, some people have had success using zip ties to tighten up a reel, YMMV. I would do a search and see what solutions come up. You could always just replace that one reel, but no guarantee the replacement is going to be better (unless you buy a new set). Glad to have you here. Enjoy your machines! Is e bay the best place to purchase the chips? They go for sixteen bucks each. Title: Re: S2000 - What chips do I need - also swapping RAM chips Post by: CVslots on June 20, 2013, 04:18:54 PM Nah, that's too much. We sell them for $20/set with free shipping! Don't pay $32!!
