Title: Going back to a Dollar...
Post by: litterbox99 on June 22, 2013, 11:00:35 PM
I want to convert one of my Bally E2000's to a large dollar coin.
I'd like to use the older dollar tokens that are available on eBay.

Of all the darn slots I've converted from Ike's to small coin's, now
I want to go back.  Unfortunately, most of the dollar stuff I had,
was donated to another collector / User on this board.

I have most of the parts, but it looks like I need a dollar coin
mech (not a comparator) The coin enters on the right side
of the mech using the longer coin slide, looking at it with the
door open.

I will need a coin switch with the longer trip wire and the 'guides'
on either side of the trip wire where it coin makes contact with the
coin.

Also, if someone want's to post a closeup pic of that
area on their machine, I would be grateful !

Once you get it up & running what are you going to drop thought it, real 1$ ?  Don't think the newer dollar coins will work.

I'm thinking large dollar, not SBA... IE: Ike's.

Silver coins would be impractical due to the value of silver, but
couldn't I use more less expensive 'tokens' of similar size and
weight like similar eBay item: 321126329147 ?

The dollar coin mech can't be that discriminating, or perhaps
modified to accept same size and reject small coins.  I won't
know until I get a coin mech and try the 27 or so 'coins' that I
have so far...

Yup, that just might work.
Good luck.

So why would you buy 20 dollar tokens for $30.00 bucks including shipping when you can buy 100 Ikes for $120.00 bucks?
The tokens will always be just tokens and at best be worth the value of the metal, but the Ikes will always be worth a buck and possibly more.

Keep searching on ebay.  :89-

TRY CONTACTING TOPHAT79 --- VENDOR ON ABOVE LIST

Randy B. he had copper colored  1.00 tokens a few yrs back for sale on eBay --then I think he went to silver colored tokens that were not the ugly style tokens that had the company's name who sold them on them for the real  "TACKY" look .

Try- Chris at SLOTDEALS  member on forum  same co. SMU.INC --Chris may have a idea where to locate them at a fair price or stock them himself

last I am not crazy about the ebayer is world wide gaming only because the prices of items is so far out of whack its mind boggling .
I think has 100.tokens for 100.00 or 120.00 bucks plus shipping . they to are a member on the forum . on one hand I am giving them possible business on the other hand saying there prices are to high . yes I have run business before and know operational cost very well  .but the prices for world wide gaming items on there eBay page make you think your a instant millionare if you sold your own slot piece by piece .

there are other on line company's that "MAKE TOKENS" I have personally purchased off of 1.00 custom made tokens & there everyday 1.00 tokens -that may just have a 'American Eagle" on them .
As with any purchase quantity is key  in order to get a fair price on custom orders was to buy 10,000 --1.00 tokens which i did 12 years ago because 90% of my slots or pokers or games that take coinage i run them all on 1.00 tokens --easy to grab they don't walk away with kids you find them on floor if dropped --the machine you purchase cost less to begin with in 80% of purchases if it is a 1.00 token casino machine that the co. selling it does not have to convert it to quarters or nickels -plus with the modern day slots many run on penny --so the 1.00 token =100 penny's etc

hope this info helps you out :103- :103- :103-

Since we are throwing out ideas about $1 tokens, a guy could just hit a local casino and pay a buck each for a real casino token ...if they still had some.

AMAZING I GOOGLE A QUESTION AND GET MY OWN POST LOL

TALK ABOUT BIG BROTHER WATCHING US. BUT I KNEW THAT ANYWAY .
TRY THESE FOR STARTERS ..

I HAD MY 1.00 TOKENS MINTED / MADE IN CT. 12 -14 YRS AGO . THEY COST .42 CENTS EACH AT THE TIME FOR QUANTITY 10,000 --1.00 TOKENS .COMPOSITION I HAVE WRITTEN DOWN SOMEWHERE -BUT THEY HAD "NO STEEL" AT ALL IN THEM

NOT THAT I EVER FOUND A 1.00 TOKEN ARCADE GAME AT WALL MART TO PLAY WITH . ITS AGAINST THE LAW TO REPRODUCE "KEY WORDING >>>EXACT SIZE<<<QUARTER SIZE-NICKEL SIZE ----DIME SIZE  TOKENS --EVEN IF USED FOR AMUSEMENT OR GAMING OR OTHERWISE . WITH CERTAIN ALLOY METALS . BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT STORY .

there are many Co's out there that will do it or buy generic tokens of your choice .
its the quantity of the tokens if going for large 1.00 tokens to get the discount .. I personally hate tokens that have the sellers name or web sight on them . even casino tokens as a post was mentioned . yes 1.00 for 1.00 token if you can resist walking out without playing a few lol plus finding them now ??

I said when TITO came out that within 20 years COINS WOULD RETURN--people like the feel of a coin and the sound it makes hitting the tray .  i will get hate mail for this .. but I BET IF A INDEPENDENT STUDY WAS MADE since TITO has been out  that to retro fit the old machines with printers-install new software in old machines for DBV -WITH THE NEVER ENDING BILL  BEING CHANGED
and to do a complete overhaul of programing of bar codes in the central computer system of all casino's that it still has not broke even yet  across all the casino's --the switch)

#1 of man power/woman power to go from coin to paper -since i know for a fact the problems they still have to this day with "bar codes" reading them correctly and faulty readers .not in the case of human error in the case of human error design of bar codes and readers with the given % of loss  estimated at any place that uses bar codes right down to your everyday supermarket .

getting way off track here ..that's why its NEW LIFE GAMES LOL

I was thinking of using older tokens, I don't like the looks of new ones.
Thought it would be novel to have the old casino tokens and less likely they
would walk away.  I'll look into IKE's, they seem lower cost than I thought.
I figured they would be made of silver (driving up the cost) but it looks like
there not silver anymore.

I bought 27 random old casino tokens for less than $1 each so I figured
that's the way to go.

as long as the COIN COMP recognizes the different coins and metals they are made up of sure .
but if it does not your stuck collecting tokens ..
plus if only ONE" MACHINE ? yes thats the way to go ..

I did it so i would have at least 300 tokens give or take per slot at the time .. then ended up buying more 1.00 tokens from two other vendors . because I did not have enough ..

Older machines with coin acceptors you only need to be concerned about all coins or tokens being the same size. Mixed metals is OK

tkrozleski has a mech for me, he tried an IKE & token, they
both worked.  Once it arrives I'll play with different options.

I went with Ikes, and they have not been silver snce 65-66 time frame

i like the ikes since if i ever want the cash back all i have to do is take them back to the bank.

i do a count of mine about once every 6 months and so far i am only missng 1 out of 4000, and i am sure it is under or at the bottom of the machine somewhere (or in a compartitor i missed)

Dollar conversion is complete.

Now I'll need to buy some IKE's.
