Title: Help with Upgrade wba 11 ss
Post by: frosty170 on July 03, 2013, 12:36:51 PM
I'm new to slots and was helping my Dad with his X5 s-plus, It has a WBA-11-SS V3.00--03 BV chip. Can this be converted to a SS13 to work with the s-plus or will another BV work to accept the new bills ?

Thanks for the help

The model and head (WBA-11-SS) determine the orientation acceptance. WBA-11-SS has 1 way acceptance, so it will accept bills in only 1 direction. The WBA-13-SS is a newer model, with a 4 way acceptance, so it accepts bills in 4 different orientations (either end in first, and right side up and upside down). The WBA-11-SS you have now cannot be converted to a newer model.

The software dictates which bills to accept. (V3.00 in your case.) If you look on the underside of the Validator, there will be an EPROM (black rectangular chip 1/2"x1.5") most likely with the Software ID V3.00-03 on it. You can buy an updated EPROM with newer software on it, which will allow the machine to accept newer bills.

Note: The software is written in different "languages", depending on manufacturer and models. IGT S+ machines, for example, is ID022/23. Jim @ Blueridge Slots has the EPROM that will allow it to accept the new $5 bills.

Thank you for the information, are there any other BV that will work with the s-plus that will allow more then the new $5

When I said it would accept the new $5, that means it will also allow any bill introduced prior to the new $5.  :89-

Sorry, I should have made myself more clear on that.  :25-

Isn't the WBA11 a flash unit? I was under the impression the WBA13 was the only model with a removable chip for upgrade

What I have read the odd numbers have a chip that can be removed and the even ones can be flashed.

So if I got it right the s-plus can only handle a BV that will work up to a new 5 so I have no options for the newer bills

I have WBA-11 and 13 are both EPROM?  :103-

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression the only bill that is not supported may be the BRAND NEW $100 that was scheduled for release at end of last year. I know the software will support the new $5 and $10.

Ok...found a post by Blueridge that explains what the 11 can and can't do...I think this will answer you questions!  :89-

You will not find a 3.80 Chip for the WBA-10/11SS in any form or Any 3.80 in any form for the S+

Options

1 - Software Update your WBA-11 SS to the latest available and that is the New Colored $10 - 1 Way Acceptance

2- Update the hardware to WBA-12/13SS and accept the new $10 4 ways or for a bit more money a few people can provide a WBA to accept the new $5 in a S+ (4 Ways)

If you have a working WBA-11 SS and just want to accept most but not all the newer bills just get an Eprom and be done, if you have problems now with your WBA do not buy another 10/11 as its not worth it.
