Title: E-1000 series shows all 8's for about 3-4 min. Post by: cfunni on July 16, 2013, 07:39:06 PM I have a Bally's E-1246 3 reel machine. When I first boot it up, the display shows all 8's The test, reset buttons do nothing. If I just leave it on after about 3-4 min it will display 50 000, and start working. It has a few other bugs I am working out but not sure what the delay is in booting up. It stinks cause as I work on it, if I do anything that requires a reset, (or turn off-on) I need to wait until it gets ready...
Any ideas? Thanks Craig Title: Re: E-1000 series shows all 8's for about 3-4 min. Post by: Amachanic on July 16, 2013, 09:02:34 PM I would start by checking the condition of the plug on the power supply board located on the back wall behind the hopper. Those plugs get hot and will burn up. Also remove the power board and check for bad solder joints..

Thanks Craig You have probably already found your solution but for those that may also see an 888888 error on an E1000 board, I thought I would pass on this tip. The all 8's error is an indication of a Watch Dog failure. If you encounter this error the most likely cause is a bad connection on U-6, U-26 or U29. U6 is a 14020 chip but U29 is a bipolar prom and they get pretty warm and that heat will cause bad connections, U26 is a 7404 Take the board out, hit each of the 16 pins on U29 with the soldering iron and a bit of solder, then do the same on U6 and U26. My guess is that if you do U29 first your problem will go away. On the E2000 board then the bipolar prom is U-19 and then the 14020 is U-30 and U-31 is the 7404.
