Title: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: slotace on September 20, 2008, 05:34:15 PM LED light replacements run cool and last much longer then standing bulbs; I replaced mine (IGT S+) with these 5v DC LED'S, took a photo of the difference so you can see! What a difference! These are not cheap, somewhere around $5 each but I'm sure you might find them cheaper. The part # listed is from Happ.

Maybe a different color for each button? Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: CaptainHappy on October 29, 2008, 04:33:44 AM Hey there,
There was a post about this exact topic on the old site, and I forget which member had changed to many different color LEDs for the buttons. They had used White, Blue, Red, and maybe Orange??? They looked really cool. I remember posting/suggesting that they should use RED and GREEN for an XMAS theme! :97- I will have to rack my brain and see if I can remember more about who it was. Also I am not sure if the post got transferred or not??? Anyone remember moving it?? We will have to rely on someones memory :99- as I guess that was one of the valuable posts that got lost when the server crashed! :37- CH :95- Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: TZtech on October 29, 2008, 05:18:51 AM Hi There
Have also tried LED's on the S+ and PE+ but there was a very noticeable flicker - what were your experiences with this ? This is due to the fact that S+ and PE+ product are driving the bulbs with 7vac. Over here we are running at 50 Hz and not 60 Hz like you wich may be making it more noticeable. Also how lonh have they been running ? I have not had good experiences with Happ LED's Ian Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: PinballWiz on October 29, 2008, 09:35:11 AM Those do look great... They have most of the sizes needed and a wide variety of colors. They also don't hose you on shipping like H*pp does. I converted my S+ to LED lights in the buttons. I bought them from John on eBay -- I think he still lists them from time to time, for about $10 for a set for a S+. They looked okay, but my original button inserts were yellowed from years of use. I bought a set of newer nice white inserts from April at Lemans, and it made all the difference -- those nice white inserts with the LEDs make the buttons look great -- just like the machines on today's casino floors. I haven't had any flickering issues with my machine, but I've seen many a machine on the casino floor with flickering buttons -- I always figured that the tech put the wrong voltage LEDs in those. Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: stayouttadabunker on October 29, 2008, 08:04:43 PM I just bought $50.00 worth of led lights...shipping was 4.80! Awesome!
Thanks for the link 2moons! Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: dpalmi on October 29, 2008, 09:58:21 PM Hello all!
I bought an LED light for my slot that changes between like 5 colors from my local Autozone car parts store. Is actually sold for use in a car, but guess what...it works great in a slot! I think they were like $8 for two - so like $4 a piece. I only put one in the Max bet one because otherwise it gets a little distracting :) Dan #2 Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Op-Bell on October 29, 2008, 10:42:08 PM A word of caution. When the LED lamp replacements first came out, people found they burned the buttons after a (long) time. It wasn't the heat, it was the ultraviolet light, and the effect was first to discolor the plastic and then to make a star-shaped crack at the lamp focus. They probably solved that problem by now, because it was quite notorious, but keep an eye on your buttons for the early signs, especially if you leave machines on all the time.
Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: slotace on October 30, 2008, 03:27:22 AM Don't know about the colored LEDS from the other site, but they look really nice! I was the one who brought over the original topic white LED photo's showing the difference. Red and Blue look very hot! - but personally, I like the white 3 LED light. (actually they are a bit gray but very bright)

Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Foster on November 21, 2008, 09:58:32 PM I purchased white ones from MCM Electronics.
I forgot about the other link posted in this topic. That is next the legends for the S+, The S+ fought hard and long before it gave up its legends to the S2000. I think I've seen LED reels in the newer Hot Penny Bonus games in Casino's. Those are the brightest lights I have evferseen inside a machine! Who makes those? (the machines) ?

I dont think you were looking at reel LEDS...I think you were looking at a very bright VIDEO screen. Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: jstraa on November 21, 2008, 10:30:50 PM Some of the newer games use them as well, only they use a strip of leds,
that's where I got the idea :P The price is $ 30 /piece for 50 pieces (but these are not retail prices) So I guess, it's a minimum of 60 dollars, and I just read that the output can be compared to 40 W! Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Op-Bell on November 21, 2008, 10:32:25 PM Quote Would it be possible to replace the light above the reels with something like this? If you want to try it without spending much money, Sams Club has strings of white LED Christmas lights, about $16 for 180 LEDs. That works out at under 9 cents an LED, which is incredibly low for white. The best bit is you can cut them up into six strings of 30, each string with its own ballast resistors to run straight off 110VAC. You can tape them side by side along a strip of wood, a ruler for example, to make a light bar about 11 inches long that's just the right size to replace a belly glass lamp. Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Op-Bell on November 21, 2008, 10:35:52 PM White LED Christmas lights are also the ideal way to light up any framed glass you may have in the games room. Run them round the inside of the frame. They give a nice even light without glare and they run cool.
Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: jstraa on November 21, 2008, 10:36:51 PM I'm in europe so I think I can't do that with my 230 V machine, but for now only light works in my machine,
hope to fix that soon. I think I found a shop that sells them; http://www.ledlight.com/t12-t8-led-tube-light-4foot-15-watt.aspx (http://www.ledlight.com/t12-t8-led-tube-light-4foot-15-watt.aspx) I don't know if 4 foot is too long, no clue how long a foot is! The nice thing about these things are they fire up instantly and you don't need a starter with it. Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Op-Bell on November 21, 2008, 10:39:29 PM 4 foot is 1.25 meters. If you have a machine that big, I want to see a picture!
Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: jstraa on November 21, 2008, 10:40:37 PM hehe I allready figured yes :72-
I just brake it in half and fill 2 machines with it LOL :71- Title: Re: The difference between LED Button Lights versus Standard Button Lights Post by: Brianzz on November 22, 2008, 02:23:32 AM Ballys and WMS both have pretty bright LED's in the 5 reel machines... crappy video on the WMS game tho'
