Title: Two S2000's, Two Printer Problems Post by: mwade109 on March 27, 2009, 09:17:37 PM Picked up a few S2000 and am trying to work out the bugs on the printers.
The first one has coin slot & hopper but does not have a printer installed (physically anyway), yet on the display it keeps saying "printer communication error" and when I go into 7.2.2.1 the printer is enabled and not an option to disable it. The other works great, has hopper in it (although coin slot is blanked off) and has printer in it. When I hit the cash out button on this one, it insists on paying out from the hopper and not a ticket. Again, the 7.2.2.1 printer is enabled. Any Ideas??? I think most settings in (7) maybe all can't be changed unless a key chip is used B.T.W. don't have any credits on the machine when using key. Tomorrow I can check my settings but until then will let some of the wise people chime in. Title: Re: Two S2000's, Two Printer Problems Post by: dpalmi on March 27, 2009, 10:36:23 PM Hello!
Congrats on your new machines! There are lots of people that would be jealous of your new S2000 machines. Make sure and post some pics of them when you get a chance so we can all drool. YES - you will need a KEY chip to change the options for both your machines. This is an eprom you install into the machine to enable you to change those settings. Without it - you can view them, but not change them Do you have a KEY chip? Otherwise any of the vendors listed on the top I'm sure would be glad to help you.... So on the one, you will want to disable the printer so you can stop getting the error. On the other machine, there are some options you need to change from the way Casino's setup the printers - then you will be able to print tickets. There is no way, at least none that we know of, to get the machines to use these printed tickets back into the machine to get the credits back....so it's just kind of for fun and also so you don't have to keep the hopper full of coins. Check out this link to see what settings to change. http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=62.0 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=62.0) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask...I or any the the many experts here will be glad to help :) Dan #2 Title: Re: Two S2000's, Two Printer Problems Post by: mwade109 on March 28, 2009, 04:26:46 PM I just ordered the key chip and was asked did I need a clear eprom. What exactly will the clear eprom do that the key chip wont and, in your opinion, should I have one?

I don't think you will need a CLEAR chip to get rid of that error - I think I've seen it before - but you will need the KEY to disable that printer. BUT, I would suggest ordering the CLEAR chip at the same time. I have one myself but have never used it. But there have been posts on this forum where people have had errors on their machines that the only way they were able to fix were to clear the machines. So yes, get the CLEAR chip too. It reset all the settings on the machine and clears out all the coin in/coin out info. It's just good to have....if you do ever need it - you would kick yourself for not getting it. I would contact him and get a Key and Clear but try not to use the clear unless you have time to drink 3-4 beers. You can go to options (1) version accounting and it will show you what GME you have. Your other machine that has the printer but won't print,The first few things to check would be.. 7.2.2.1 printer.... enabled 7.2.1.1 validation type....sas standard mode and have *** tickets in and loaded correctly***,The wording on most tickets "this side up" :81- is not correct for loading them in the priter You can go to options (4) I/O test and print test ticket. A good place to start and when you get it all done have another :154- and go to 3.1.10.1 data for ticket and you can put your own heading on the ticket Some GME's might not have the same option # as stated Title: Re: Two S2000's, Two Printer Problems Post by: mwade109 on March 29, 2009, 12:10:36 AM Thanks for the info, I picked up four of the machines and they are all as set to payout thru the hopper instead of the printer. I ordered the key & clear chip thru the same person I purchased the machines from. Just a little tweaking and I'm sure they will be fine. And yes, even though I may not need the clear chip, better to have it then to not. Especially with 4 machines. Will post pictures after I clean them up and put the candles on.
Dont know about the beer issue, seems the only time I drink beer is after I have a few Mexican beverages that come in these nice small glasses about 2" tall! Then beer or anything else tastes good!
