My 1 line 3 quarter play Universal machine looks like a Y90. Rest of tag is worn off. Had the MPU board gone thru recently, along with the power suppl. It is running very well except for the constant "Flickering" in the Win meter, credit meter, last coin played and coins played area. They continue to flicker when powered up or 2 - 3 hours later. Anyone with some ideas for what I should look for ?

Possibly a cold solder connection breaking down with heat and or bad connection on a molex pin connector. Only from my experience in that type of issue in pinball displays.

I've seen this in casinos but not with my machines at home.


Is the noise filter removed from inside the power supply? Little black plastic box that says Tokin on it. If it's still in there I would take it out.

There is also another noise filter behind the hopper, silver metal, that one leave alone should be ok.


Other issues could be weak capacitor in power supply causing power ripples, noise from maybe the machines flourescent lights(try unplugging the lights), or the LED panel is going bad.
Really do not have a "for sure" answer to this one.

Is there any extra static or clicking from the speaker?
 

A little static from speaker, when it is sitting idle. You really can't hear it, unless th door is open. I will try and or look at the above and let you know tomorrow. Thanks

A little static is normal, a clicking or loud static would lean towards the 24vdc of power supply.

Noise filter has been  removed. Have removed Fluorescents and starters have pushed all connectors  together, still the same. If it was a cold solder connection, how on earth do you find it?
Do you know where I can purchase the LED PCG on the door?     P/N 8515-C-75
I also want to install a fan on the inside of the unit. It get very warm in there. Any recommendations as to where to get the power? 110V 13V ???

You look at the solder side of the board where the connector pins are soldered on the board. Use a magnifying glass or glasses to look for a circle looking crack around the pin. I sometimes just hit the pin with an iron to make sure if questionable. I have had many a display problem with pins caused by that alone. Otherwise the cap suggestion on the PS and or filters would be what I would look at next.

Post it on the right board (classified) here. There should be plenty of people with knowledge of this part. Otherwise Rudys Deals has parts possibly.
