Title: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: ucanwin on August 10, 2013, 11:31:22 PM I am having a problem with a board that I just received for my IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker machine.
The game plays and pays but............... The cards are not showing. Also when trying to change games.........the screen is scrambled. Any ideas as to what the problems are? See pictures attached. Thanks, Jerry Title: Re: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: knagl on August 11, 2013, 08:44:23 AM Is that using the wingboard? The main screen looks like it is. Are you sure it has the right graphics chips? Also, I think there's a jumper out of place -- is there a jumper on the board labeled E16 or E17? Move it to the opposite position as to what it's currently jumped to, and see if that makes a difference.
Remember to always turn the power OFF when removing or inserting the board. Title: Re: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: ucanwin on August 12, 2013, 05:53:19 PM Thank you, for your reply.
I have a question.....you asked if I was using a wingboard......what is a wingboard? The chips in the board are labeled as follows: U66...XMP00002P PE+Data U67...XMP0000 unable to read bal. of number, GAME U77...CG2298 U78...CG2298 U79...CG2298 U80...CG2298 U43...Cap chip....CAPX2298 Also...moving the jumper (E16/E17) only results in incorrect colors. The cards still do not show and the Game selection page is scrambled and only appears to show that there are only 3 different games available to be selected. Title: Re: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: 2Nutz on August 13, 2013, 04:48:55 AM A wingboard is an additional PC board sitting on top of the CPU. The board is about 6" by 4". The PE+ can run multi poker in one of two ways, with a wing board and five individual game eproms or a multi-game eprom, ie. 5 games on one program chip.
Going back to the beginning, you indicate you just got a replacement board. Did these chips work for you prior or included in the board received as a multi-poker board? What limited info I have indicates a mis-match of chip #'s listed. Should have XP Program chip and XM-----P data if running without the wingboard ? I show the 2298 Graphics and CAP used with a wingboard ? :103- Title: Re: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: ucanwin on August 13, 2013, 07:28:05 AM Thanks for setting me straight on the wingboard. I have not heard that term before.
The board that I received, does not have a wingboard. My machine has a single poker game and is working fine, but I am trying to make it a Multi-Poker. The board that I just received, just isn't working. I waited to get a working board for approximately two months and was told that it was working when it was sent to me. Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea what CAP chip would be correct with the chips that I have listed? Title: Re: Problem with IGT Players Edge Plus Multi Poker board Post by: jay on August 13, 2013, 11:33:01 AM I have never heard of a capx2298 - but that might just be me.
I suspect that whoever had that board labeled the capx chip according to the MxO set. I am on the road and don't have access to my xreference but I ssuspect a capx731 would work. If you choose ricks FAQ, followed by IGT game bible There is a PE+ section that has a bunch of information. The short answer: you have the wrong graphics chips. The CG 2298 chips (the MRO, MGO, MBO, and MXO chips, plus the CAP PROM) are used with the add-on wingboard which you indicated you don't have. For the record, here's a picture of the wingboard, which is an add-on board that mounts on top of/into a PE+ superboard: (http://i56.tinypic.com/2akhjiv.jpg) Since you're not using the wingboard, the CG2298 graphics set is the wrong set for your game, and explains why you're getting garbled graphics. Just changing the CAP(X) chip won't be enough, as that chip only controls colors for the graphics set, and won't change anything about the graphics being displayed. For the XM00002P chipset, you should be using CG2174 graphics and CAP chips. There may be other chipsets that might work ( Edited to add: So, I forgot that each multi game set has its own unique banner displaying the five games that are available. XM00001P, XM00002P, XM00003P, and XM00006P offer the same five games (although with different paytables), and CG2174 is the correct CG set for your XM00002P. For what it's worth I'm believe that the same CG2174 is also correct for XM00001P, XM00003P and XM00006P since they offer the same five games. The other two I mentioned above won't work as they have different games and don't have the graphics to display the correct game titles on the game selection screen banner. For the record, since I went through a couple of sets in MAME testing stuff out, XM00004P uses CG2196 , and XM00005P uses CG2240 . |
