Title: Bally EM English Conversion??
Post by: markhart on August 15, 2013, 02:39:41 AM
I was recently offered this Bally "Golden Nugget" for sale, and I have a few suspicions.  The reel strips have the letters "JAC" overlaying some symbols, but there is no reference to JAC payouts on the award card.  The BAR symbols say "SUPER", and it is a tall cabinet like a Continental.  There is also a strange "SPIN" button next to the coin entry.  Looks like something that was put together.  The man said he inherited it from his brother-in-law who bought it in 1982.  Any ideas?

Yes, but what about the funky "JAC" letters over the symbols and the SPIN button?  It doesn't add up.

Looks like a conversion, and they probably did a good job if it's from the 80's.
Back then you could design your own reel strips, and a lot of folks did.
We had some Snoopy stuff at the Mapes until charles Schultz found out and we had to pull them out.
I custom built one for the Silver Spur at one time that was on their dollar carousel.  It did great.
I'm surprised no one here is making reel strips.  With the printing tech we have now, it would be a snap.

What does the tag on the machine say?
Does it work?
Send some pics of the guts.

The machine is working, but the seller moved away from where the machine is at and can't give me the model number because the machine is in storage.  I am buying another machine from the owner and having it transported, so I may offer a few hundred dollars for it and have my mover pick up both machines.  If I get it I'll post more pics.
Thanks.

The machine looks like it has not been abused.  The glass/payout is interesting in that there is no larger Jackpot for playing the 5th coin like most 873's that I have seen.
