Title: Coin out Jam on Stinkin Rich
Post by: HVYHITTER on September 09, 2013, 06:36:37 PM
The machine locked up and I reset the ram and main  board but still same error. I Brought the main board to slot depot and he plugged it into another machine after he replaced one of the ram chips. It worked fine in his shop. I brought the board home and plugged it in, still getting "Coin-Out Jam". The machine only accepts bills and there is no coin mech. , so not sure why the error. There is a hopper error but I can not clear it or disable the hopper in the peripheral setup. Any ideas?

Primary suspect would probably be the cabinet IO board. I would turn the machine off, check to make sure the board is seated properly and turn the machine back on

Tried that before (should have stated) and still same error.

Is coinless enabled in the setup menu? Bad IO board possibly?

I tried disabling it. The coin acceptor and the hopper are enabled, but it will not allow me to disable it. It is not greyed out just won't let me disable it. When it test the hopper it states there is a coin jam and to fix it before continuing.

I'm not overly familiar with the video based games if that's what you have, but on reel games you need a key chip to change those types of settings

Yes, it is a reel video type game (LCD). It never was designed to take coins. The motherboard and daughter card assembly was plugged into another machine and the game was working fine. The key chip was used in the shop to adjust some settings and again it worked in another machine before I left.

Must be a peripheral. I thought it might be the coin meter, but unplugged it just gets me an error that coin meter is unplugged.

If it has a bad IO card, that can cause that error and wouldn't show up when you test the board in another game because the IO card is desperate from the MPU and motherboard

Don't have a replacement but you may be right. Looks like there are two in the cabinet and one of the door.

Rob  I don't even know if this is called a IO, but on older Game Kings with a 5 button deck it's as close to a IO as your gonna get.

You know more about I games than I do Buzz. Will coinless settings trigger this error or is it more likely an IO type problem?
