I have bought my first EM. I have most expierence with "E" series. A hopper relay was chopped out. I do not know  what this relay is referred as ? There is no payout.  I  have downloaded the NLG EM  manual and it shows up to 900 series EM's. I could use help to as what relay this is called and what all parts are needed and where the wires connect to on the relay.

I looking for a wiring diagram for a 1088.

If so , is there a diode, resistor, and capacitor needed to connect to the coil on the relay?

That spot on the hopper is where your delay relay goes.  It is used to time out the safety timer motor (the red light that goes on when the hopper is empty behind the hopper).  It takes a diode, resistor, cap, and you need the little switch called the ratchet cam switch which rides on the 100 tooth plastic paygear more or less.
You can probably bypass all that by increasing the timeout of your safety timer to about a minute and a half or more....
There is 120V associated with this circuitry so use caution.
If your machine pays out ok, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are serious into restoration.  I would tape up all the wires so that they do not short out to anything..

Mine does not payout at all. This is what I would like to fix. Increasing the time on the timeout will do the trick to get it to payout?

I think this machine was changed to free play before i owned it. The handle release armature plate/latch was removed also and Barry is sending me the plate and spring to get that part fixed.

If it does not pay out on anything, check your payboard and assembly to make sure that it is resetting back to zero, and also that all the little fingers on the payboard spiral cam are making contact with the board.
Next check your reel wipers to make sure they also contact, and are adjusted correctly.

Here is the payout counter. I t has no zero switch and appears that never had one. No extra or cut wires in the harness.

Tim... I finally got those two EM's up on stands tonight. Mine are both model 1090 machines. I took some pics of the payout counter and plugs.. The zero switch on mine has a Yellow wire and a orange w/Blk wire. I also took pics of the two plugs to show you where the wire go. The yellow wire is in the right plug, second wire down on left, and the orange/black wire is on the left plug, second wire down on the right..  I can try to get a pic or two of the hoppers relay and switch wires if you want?

they may have run the zero switch through a set of switches at the top right of your photo called 'payoutcounter.jpg' in reply #9.  That would certainly work just as well as the original zero stop switch since that stack also changes state when the payboard resets....
Also, increasing the time out on the safety timer motor will not make the machine pay, so don't worry about that.

 I found the zero switch wires shrink tubed off an cable tied into the harness. I will get that hooked up and see what happens.

Installing the relay and the zero switch will get the payout function working, correct?

Glad to help Tim.  I'm in the middle of changing a broken 30 pin Beau plug on the hoppers cabinet plug of a Bally 809 I've had sitting around. Then when that's done I need to get that 1090 machine finished. Good luck with your EM dollar machine.

Yes you are correct. The zero stop wires were moved to that stack of blade switches.

Now I just need to replace the time delay relay and see if I get a payout.

Got the relay, diode, capacitor, resistor and wired in and it works great!
