Title: i-game bulbs hot Post by: amiga500 on September 27, 2013, 03:27:45 PM When I got my i-game earlier this year, most of the lights on the button panel were burned out. I replaced them with led's from Suzo Happ and melted. So I purchased just the regular bulbs. They got so hot they deformed the black plastic on the base of the buttons and now the buttons stick. What's the deal? I either have too many amps going to the panel or the bulbs are rated too low. For now I pulled all the lights and I have to sand and modify each button so it will work.

When the led's from Suzo melted I thought that they must be the wrong type and that's why I went back to regular bulbs. Since the bulbs weren't working when I bought the machine, I figure there's probably an issue with the power. I'll check the amps this weekend. Anyone know what the corrected readings should be?
Title: Re: i-game bulbs hot Post by: rickhunter on September 27, 2013, 04:35:02 PM You need to make sure you are buying the correct bulbs. There are 6 volt (usually called 86 bulbs) and 14 volt bulbs (usually called 73 bulbs) that are exactly the same size and even look the same. If you put 86 bulbs on your igame, they would get really hot and melt as the panel is putting 14 volts on an incandescent filament that is meant to operate at 6 volts (I bet they looked really bright!).
Title: Re: i-game bulbs hot Post by: amiga500 on September 27, 2013, 06:11:57 PM Rick, thanks. That's the problem. I thought I needed 86 bulbs. I'll order the correct ones.
Title: Re: i-game bulbs hot Post by: rickhunter on September 27, 2013, 07:31:16 PM if you want to get leds, you can get the leds for 14 volts or 12 volts, for a more "modern" look.
