Title: S Plus to s2000 conversion Post by: Big Ed Deline on September 29, 2013, 05:47:43 PM How complex is it to convert an s plus machine to an s2000? There is a fairly cheap opportunity to get a couple run down s plus machines but I have no desire to own or fidgit with an s plus. Basically Id be buying it for the cabinet and buttons etc... that I could use on an s2000. So I guess my question would be how much wiring, reels, CPU, boards, etc do the two different machines (s+ and s2000) have in common and what definitely has to be changed?

Not sure if you could even gut them for the cabinets and you'd need new doors anyway. IGT did a complete remake when they switched platforms

The work involved in getting a cabinet ready so you could install all the S2000 parts, plus getting all the S2000 parts, it would probably be cheaper for you to pick up a complete S2000. Just buying up all the parts of an S2000 would cost you more than buying an S2000 I would think. About the only thing I can think of that is movable is the actual glass kit, a coin guide, a coin head, a pair of flourescent bulbs (you can't even use the ballast), jackpot reset key mechanisim. You may be able to use the pull handle and the mech, but I'm not sure if the solenoid operates at the same voltage.

Reel baskets from S+ are same for non back lit reel strips. The reel motors and optics are the same in case you need to fix a S2000 reel and only have a spare S+ reel For the most part Your reel chips work in the S2000 with a SB001000 Base chip as long as they are a 120ns or faster chip. As long as you have the platform, you can change the game out to whatever you want.
