Title: Typo/error in WMS 40X service manual? Post by: rokgpsman on September 29, 2013, 07:07:56 PM I noticed that the WMS 40X service manual (WMS manual A-004336, dated Feb 1999) that is available for download here and other places has a typo. It is possibly serious enough it could cause a problem for someone.
In Section 2, Chapter 3 Troubleshooting on page 3-10 near the back of the book there is a drawing of the Dotmation Controller board. On this drawing the Dot eproms XU3 and XU4 are reversed, should be shown as XU4 being the upper one (fartherest from the large power resistor). The markings on the actual board are correct and differ from this drawing. Was there more than one version of the Dot controller and maybe this drawing was correct for the other board? Can someone verify this error just to double-check? If it is an error it could mess someone up if they didn't pay attention to the chip identifier writing that is masked on the board next to the sockets, as the writing is small and partially hidden by board parts. If it isn't an error I need to find out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks! |
