Title: Cleaning heads and transport belts
Post by: Magicslots on April 05, 2009, 08:57:34 PM
Is drug store isopropyl alcohol a good agent to clean the head optics? And is there a certain procedure for it? I'm new to this.
And what is a readily available cleaner for the transport belts, mine are still pliable, maybe even a bit loose. The dbv keeps having trouble with older bills that have been folded or have crease near the center.

Nooooooo! The optics are made of some unusual plastic that reacts badly with alcohol. It doesn't dissolve, but it goes cloudy. Clean the optics with soapy water, and not much of it - use a damp cloth. Paper towel can be scratchy. I believe it's ok to use alky on the belts but again, just a light wipe, don't soak them.
