Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: Ozzy on April 06, 2009, 03:59:41 PM Great movie, watched it the other night for the mega time, the girlfriend was watching for the first time and is now convinced I am a bandido.
Have you checked out the movies bloopers? When Micky goes to leave after talking with Sam alone out in the desert, listen to the tires on his car! How can you squeal your tires in sand? The car bomb at the beginning of the movie, and near the end of the movie are supposed to be the same event. At the start of the movie, the bomb blows up with Ace (de niro) still in the car. At the end of the movie, the car ignites on fire first, then Ace gets to escape, then the car explodes. few more interesting things, 1. if you watch the car bomb scene at the beginning closely, you can see that De Niro suddenly turns into a mannequin before the car explodes! 2. at the end, even though the explosion seems to occur during bright daylight, when the ambulances are at the scene to take him away it is pitch dark night time.. gee.. slow ambulances! At the beginning of the movie, Sam and Ginger start an account at a Los Angeles bank "under the name of Mr. & Mrs. Tom Collins." Sam deposits $2MM (in case of emergency) in a safety deposit box, then gives Ginger the only key. At the end of the movie, when the whole relationship goes sour, Ginger steals the key out of Sam's desk when the Las Vegas police escort her into the house to get a few things. Minutes later, she arrives at the bank to get the money out of the deposit box, closely pursued by the Las Vegas police who actually help her put the money in bags. The time lapse of a 4-6 hour drive from Vegas to LA isn't even suggested, and of course the presence of the Las Vegas police at both the Rothstein's house and the bank (why would Vegas police have jurisdiction in LA?) After Sam's tirade at the hearing, the Alan King character is talking to Remo in an alley as Remo sits in the back seat of his car. In the first shot of Remo, he has a pack of cigarettes immediately next to him on the seat. When the camera goes to King then back to Remo almost immediately, the pack is gone but a gold lighter is in its place. Next time back, the cigarettes are back. In the part where Robert De niro throws Sharon Stone out of the house, he physically pushes her out on to the ground. Look at her hands when she hits the ground. She is wearing some kind of metal or leather protectors on her hands so they don't get scratched. Good thinking if she knew she was going to get thrown on the ground!! located at the gaming control board hearing, if you listen closely when the board votes to deny the motion and dick smothers says that the I's have and the meeting is adjourned it flashes back to Oscar Goodman (Sam's attorney) as he sets down a file and says "you guys have to be kidding" but his lips never move. When Sam wants to fire the "juiced-in local cowboy" for having a messy work station, Billy Sherbert says, "You can't fire him because he is the county commissioner's cousin." However, after Sam does fire him, the county commissioner comes into Sam's office and states that, "He is my brother-in-law, and I would consider it a personal favor," making it a slip-up. Just after the scene where the Ten-Gallon hat wearing "HICK" has his shoes off and his white sock shrouded feet are up on the Poker table watch closely as the security guards pick him up and begin to throw him out of the large, metal double doors. On the right hand side of the screen you'll see that it is the security guard's HEAD that gets smacked around by the door frame and door just a split second before the "HICK's head hits. When Mr green is arguing with his woman partner. The woman partner goes to court and she knows too much. So they send Nicky to "whack" her. So the next shot is the lady in her house eating at her table, when Nicky strolls in from behind wearing sunglasses and a brown jacket. He walks up to her puts his arm around one side of her head and shoots her on the other. His arm should be BLOWN off. He would shoot himself . OR possibly he is so tough, he got shoot but he never even felt it.... cheers O Z Z Y Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2009, 04:01:47 PM I loved this two-popcorn movie... :96-
Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: jay on April 06, 2009, 05:58:26 PM This movie and wise guy are two of my favorites.
There is a Canadian flick called the last casino which is not bad. Its almost the same movie as 21 except it came out 2 years before and features Canadian locations such as Niagra and they talk about going to Vegas as if that is a short drive from the east coast. Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: StatFreak on April 07, 2009, 01:47:29 AM This is one of my favorite movies, and I can't even count the number of times that I've seen it.
Lots of good trivia there Ozzy, and although I was familiar with most of it, thanks for posting. Actually, I own the VHS 2-tape widescreen and the DVD release of this movie. Has anyone else noticed that there are several pieces of dialog in Joey's first video post that are not in the finished film? I'm referring to first-person dialog onscreen, not the voice-over parts that were obviously made for the promotional spot (although most of the voice over is from the film). The first is at 47 seconds when Sharon Stone says to her high roller client, "You like your money a lot, don't ya, don't ya?" and his reply, "yes, a lot," just as she knocks the rack of $500 chips into the air. The video is from the film, but that dialog isn't in the finished scene. I'll leave the rest for everyone to find. :79- Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: jdkmunch on April 08, 2009, 07:05:30 PM Do you think this stuff really happens?
Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: jay on April 08, 2009, 07:37:58 PM I wouldn't think much of this goes on in the big name licensed establishments....especially the public traded companies.....
There are certainly shades of some of the past, such as they still have a gaming commission that determines who can and cannot run and work at a casino. There is a black book - albeit electronic that is used to ban people. I can see that there would be a number of hotel rooms, backs of restaurant etc used for unlicensed games or where the perks include drugs and female favours. You get caught cheating at a private party you might just dissapper into the desert. Title: Re: Video of the week 15 Casino Post by: OhioGaming on April 08, 2009, 09:14:56 PM They filmed the casino scenes in the Riviera in OCT 94. Most of the filming started after midnight. Sharon Stone set behind us and watched us play slots for about 30 minutes.
Best jackpot I ever won was $2400 on a 3L RWB at the Riviera while they were filming. |
