Title: Bally alpha printer jam problem
Post by: allen84 on October 10, 2013, 03:05:28 AM
I got a Bally alpha 5 reel quick hits machine, on Monday.  It was working fine and everything, and played nicely.....until I decided to cash out to print the ticket.  Thats where the troubles have started.  I can never get rid of the printer jam error at all. Even with all the rebootings, does not clear this problem. The printer is a Ithaca Epic 950.

Now every time, I feed the paper in, it keeps on red light faulting.  Even if I managed to get the paper in, and than restart the machine, after a few minutes it reprints the ticket, I cashed out originally.  But the voucher printed out is out of alignment, thus giving the paper error.
Even with rebooting with no paper in the printer still gives the "printer jam" error or "printer fail to reset" or "print complete flag time out".

I think at this point I want to disable the printer for now, but i'm guessing for me to clear the printer errors, I need to perform a ram clear.  Here is my other problem.  The clear card that was given to me, wasn't actually a clear card.

The OS card running on the machine is a AVOS00000336-05.  The supposed clear card that was given to me is a AVOS00000317-02.  I've done a bit research in the past couple hours now, and I found out, that the 317-02 is an another OS card.  NOT a Clear card.

So I found out the clear card I need is a AVOCLEAR335.   Does anyone on this board sell one?   I checked all the sponsored vendors, and I do not see the card sold by any of them.  It sucks when you get a machine, as nice as this one, only to enjoy it for all of 10 mins lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are your Bios AVBBP26S300M‐03? Looks to me like you need a AVOCLEAR0335‐01 Clear!
Hmmmm, I'm sitting here with one of those EXACT Clears in my hand, ODD......LMAO!!!

Allen - Contact member Blueridgeslots for your Clear card. He can also verify which clear you need.

I have successfully cleared my machine and now I'm up and running now, thanks to a most gracious member on these forums who was able to assist me.

For now, I have disabled my Ithaca 950 printer, as it has a feeding problem.  It faults everytime, the paper is fed. Or it prints, and the next leading paper, just sticks out a quarter of the way, resulting a paper jam.

After opening up the printer, and trying to clean the head and sensors, I've noticed the "top of form" sensor is scratched or scuffed pretty badly, and not shiny like the other sensors elsewhere on the printer.  This leads me to believe that sensor cannot calibrate the paper properly. I'm gussing this is might be the cause of the problem.

So now I need to buy a new top of form sensor.

You may find you will need to buy a whole new printer....as printers are not parted out too much. Awesome that you were able to identify the problem though!  :89-
