Title: tournament or not tournament?
Post by: badbaud on October 15, 2013, 11:00:01 PM
The machine has a Sp of 922 and a reel chip with ST0031 type 0/14.

Not a 16MHz board.

It does not have a coin acceptor or a hopper or a bill validator.

First question: Are the above chips really for tournament?

Second question: Why doesn't following standard tournament instructions (found somewhere on this site) set the machine up for tournament play.

Are there special instructions for the above chips?

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, per the IGT SP & ST Lists (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=68.0) sticky topic in this forum, SP922 supports Type 0/1/4/5 and 14, with 14 being the tournament game type.  ...and per the IGT game bible (http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%20Tourney/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Tournament.htm), ST0031 is a tournament chip for a Five Times Pay (or clone) game.

You can download the PSR for the SP922 chip here (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1062).  There's no mention in the PSR of it being for a 16mhz board, so it is safe to assume that it is designed for a 10mhz board.

Tournament settings are mentioned on pages 3, 6, and 7 of the PSR.

For example, if you want to do a timed tournament, ensure the following options are selected:

Page 0, option 20: 1 (enable tournament option)
Page 0, option 40: mmss (amount of time in minutes and seconds for the tournament -- for example, 0500 for five minutes and zero seconds)

Step through the remaining self test setup pages to save your changes.  Then, to start a tournament game, press and hold the Spin Reels button, and turn the jackpot reset key, then release both.

Ok, that was easy.
Push test button until 5 - - 1 is shown, for non tournament it would be the place where you set credit mode.

Once at credit mode turn key until a 20 is shown, tap spin button to create a 1 to the right of the 20.

that turns on tournament mode then follow the settings in the PSR.
