Title: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 25, 2013, 01:58:11 PM My bally 847 continental I have been working on seems like the reels should spin longer. I would like to find out if it is possible and how to make them spin longer. Any help is appreciated.
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: OldReno on October 25, 2013, 03:45:53 PM One way to slow the clock is to bend slightly the ends of the fan blades to make a scoop. Another way is to put weights on the end of the fan blades. You might also consider putting an extension on the large spring to lengthen it and thus cut down on its tension. That actually might work....
Not much you can do to a 4 reeler, except perhaps put some heavier grease on the clock. In theory you could move the holes on the latch links (Part 24, page 97 of your manual) to a shorter position, but you would have to do it to all 4 reels, and I won't guarantee that will work to your satisfaction. Try putting an extension on your spring (Part 56, page 91). Start out with say a half inch extension, and then make it longer to see what happens. Please keep us informed on how it goes...? It should give you a longer spin, but if too long the 4th reel may not index all the time. Thank you I'm going to work on it and I will definitely let you know how it went. Thanks for all the help have a great day .
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 26, 2013, 06:19:22 AM So far I was messing with the spring and ended up stretching it out and having to cut part of it off. I'm going to try the spring from my other machine on this machine and see how it works.
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: OldReno on October 26, 2013, 03:35:53 PM Try adding something like a keyring so you don't mess up your remaining spring. Maybe a loop of good stout wire...?
Once you stretch your springs, it's hard to unstretch them. Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 26, 2013, 04:02:12 PM Good ideal I figured my spring needs replaced now. I am going to try to find a place that sells this type of spring
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 26, 2013, 05:05:35 PM I'm heading off to the hardware store, hopefully just one, to get another spring. I noticed my dash pot switch on the machine in working on is broken and not even wired up? It was unlocking the handle before with it this way? Here is a picture of the dash pot switch the broken and unwired one on the left and the functioning one on my 742
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 26, 2013, 05:51:52 PM I replaced the spring but I am still having the problem of my coins being recognized now. Handle will not unlock and odds won't change. I'm thinking I may have put something out of adjustment.
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 26, 2013, 06:16:24 PM I figured out the spring I replaced was too loose and that is why the handle unlock and odds change wasn't happening. I replaced with a smaller spring and it works fine except the reels are still not spinning for any longer. I will try some more. I would really like to figure out why I'm not getting the right payouts for additional coins. But this gives me something to play with.
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: David B Fowler on October 27, 2013, 02:29:22 AM Tape small washers to the fan blades, one on each. That should do it.
Dave Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 27, 2013, 03:36:58 AM I'll give that a try. Thanks hope all is well with you. I have some tape I think that will work good for this. It's that aluminum type ac tape used for ducting.

Dave Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 29, 2013, 06:17:18 AM I still haven't put the weights on but am getting to it. I came across this machine and am curious if you know anything about it.
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: David B Fowler on October 29, 2013, 10:52:52 AM Kinda looks like a 922 model Double progressive. Is it working?
I have a 922 and discover that I had a belly glass that matches the top design on another one of my machines. I see that your machine is a 5 coin single line while my 922 is a 5 line machine. I like the machine. :3- Dave Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Amachanic on October 29, 2013, 02:29:03 PM That looks like it's a Bally #952 Progressive 5 coin Multiplier from1972... Plays 1-5 coins... You should get a copy of this book in the picture.. It cover a lot of the Bally EM and E-Series Machines..

The person is asking $400 for that machine with the stand. The candle on it looks really cool I haven't seen one like that

If not I wouldn't give that for it. Maybe half that. Open it up and look it over before you buy to look for damage, broken beau plugs. Cut wiring etc... Gary Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 30, 2013, 10:51:27 PM I put a few washers on for weight and now I'm having trouble with the handle getting stuck when I pull it. Crap!
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on October 30, 2013, 11:11:48 PM I adjusted a few things and got it to spin again but the weight I added to the fan hasn't slowed it
Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: David B Fowler on October 30, 2013, 11:20:14 PM I would remove them then. I will take a picture of a part that you might be able to adjust to let the mech travel a little further before it is released. It is the "L" looking bracket at the rear of the right side. If you need I will send the pic. If you see where I am talking about, moving this a little to the front of the mech will allow the mech to wind up a little further before it is released. I think that might be a start. I would at least try it. Make sure you take note of where it was originally in case you need to return it.

I just replaced the bolts and adjusted it finally to where it would spin again. That was the original problem to why it wouldn't spin. Now maybe if I add heavier washers to the fan that might work? I already tried bending them the fan blades that is. I notice my 3 reel machine only spins a little over a second longer this may be something I have to live with. I really would like to find the extruding trim piece for the front door. I got lucky and found the coin tray for $9.99 on eBay and a couple of parts I got from your pal Gordy.

Dave Title: Re: How do you make the reels spin longer on a Bally EM Post by: Karliesdad88 on November 06, 2013, 01:36:23 AM Right now my continentals lever is working better my reels however seem to only spin for 1.5-2 seconds before stopping. My 3 reel machine spins longer not sure if this is just the way they are? Do 4 reel machines typically spin longer than 1.5-2 seconds?
Has anyone seen a stand like this before? Ive been trying to get my hands on it for awhile now. My grandparents had one that my father now has (without a machine) I have been trying to obtain. I really like the outlet and light too. These seem like they are very hard to find.

They're not cheap.. They cost about $125.00. I did pay that much, that's just what I was told.. I've had people try to buy them when they come to look at what I'm selling. The wife line them so they need to stay. I would probably spring that much for one if they were available. Hopefully I can manage to get the one my dad has from him.
