Title: S Slot Main Board Needed
Post by: mmstreeter on October 28, 2013, 01:58:13 PM
Looking to revive an oldie.  Gives code 61 but doesn't respond to test switch. Reels held in place when powered up.
Tried disconnecting battery and discharging caps to reboot with no help. Any suggestions welcome.

When you say TEST switch, are you refering to the White button at the power switch? Or the key switch. To make 61 change to 61-1 you have to push and hold WHITE button 3-5 seconds. Once you get 61-1 close door and turn key switch on the side. Then should boot up. If once you get 61-1 and turn the key it does not boot, then you may have a problem with the door optics. You can put a piece of tape on the door and the cabinet and make a pen mark on each. Close the door and see if they line up. A couple things to check then let us know.

I've only owned one S model and I don't think it had door optics, as I recall it had a door cherry switch. I do remember to do a clear you need a Test123 chip. I'm not sayng you need to clear it.

Buzz   you are correct!   there are no door optics on the S model.   the door open and closed is the function of the white cherry switch on the left hand side of the machine (standing as you look at the machine)   with the door open, you should be able to push the white test button and get the machine to load.  (cherry switch should not be pulled out, it should be in the same position as if the door was just opened.  that switch has three operating positions,  1= when door is closed, switch is pushed in (closed) 2=when door is open ,switch is in the middle position (open)  3= when door is open, switch is pulled out (same as the door being closed).

I've got a model S doing about the same thing.  With door open I can press test switch and it "dings" but does not change to 61-1.  Reels are locked up but the 61 never clears.

Test123 chip, never heard of this, does any one have one?

thanks
Bob

Read the comments so far.  (1) Yes pressing the small "self test" switch with door open and door switch in "door open" condition.  I do NOT get a ding or any response to the switch (no display blink).  Checked that the test switch was indeed closing.

Bob - if the chip works for you maybe I could borrow it or get one of my own.

PM me your address and I'll get one sent to you.  All most forgot   :238-

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you will hear the ding if your speaker isn't working.
