Title: Mini Photon install
Post by: jstraa on April 09, 2009, 02:24:16 PM
I've an upright cable is connected, set dip switch # 5 to on.
I get into menu # 9 I see 0__0 (_ = space) but no way I can enable the progressive.
Any ideas? I tried jackpot key, test switch to get extra options none work till now!

Maybe ... is it mandatory to clear the machine again after I made a dip switch setting change?

Hello!

Do you know which SP chip you have installed in the machine?  The newer ones require a SET chip to enable/change the progressive settings.  If you are unsure of your SP number or what a SP is, check out the link below...

Well, I've NEVER forgotten this myself, but don't forget when you're configuring the progressive, all the parameters you are changing are displayed on the progressive display, not on the winner paid and credits displays.

that's nice to know as well :)
but do you think I should reset/clear the machine ?

Not unless you have the proper SET chip to re-enable the bill acceptor.
Plus you'll have to re-configure the mini photon display again.

I think I would have first reset the machine to zero,
then using the SET chip, re-enable the DBV, and re-configure all your options including the mini photon display.
Then using your SP731 chip, configure everything else the way you want it.
That way, when the photon starts counting - it matches the machines' inner accounting as well.

I think you use the reset key to advance the values.....

Any credits on the machine need to be cleared.

The SP731 does not need a SET chip to set the mini-photon display; it uses the DIP switches on the MPU board. You don't need to clear it, but as Jay said, you do need to make sure that there are no credits on the machine.

A copy of the PSR for SP731 has suddenly appeared in the Submit a New File section. :71-

Cleared all credits, only got menu 9 with 2 options 1st is 0__0 that i can set to 1__1 but isn't remembered.
other is 00 in the winner paid which I can change no further options. So I guess I've to do a clear

"menu 9 with 2 options 1st is 0__0 that i can set to 1__1"

This option is for disabling the slot machine, however,  but leaving the lights on.
Slot mechanics use to use that option for in casinos.
You would never use it for home - normally we turn off the machine using the power switch when not using it.

What I think you are doing is missing the 2-0 options entirely
because you're only pushing the test switch to get to the options described above.

Start over, when you get push the test switch, only push it until you get to "2-0".
Then turn the reset key until you get to the "9" for the progressive photon configurations.

I will acquire a copy of the SP731 PSR to double check and get back to you.

Okay disregard above,
I am reading out of the SP731 PSR now...
Check out page 7 on the PSR...
"Progressive #1
Selection<9>"    to get there, just push the test button like Stat said.
Then turn the "reset key" to move the light cursor on the photon display and
use the "Play" button to change the value.

Push the test switch 18 times to get to the photon options!

Did that I then see,
winner paid
0  0 al blank credits blink 9 - 0 -9 - 0 etc.

I've done that ... I'll check again. Shouldn't be resetted after doing that?
(it was on on on on off off off off)

No, the DIP switches on an S+ are not used to activate a temporary setup mode like they are in other machines. If the DIP needs to be on to "set" the progressive, then it needs to stay on to use the progressive. (Actually, the them IGT uses in "enable" the progressive.

Dip 5 has to be ON and left ON for the Progressive to work....

put it down wrong, have that ... you guys are sure that I don't need to clear my machine?

Maybe my dip switch is broken? I still do not have the other menu settings. I do get 00000.00 in the progressive display when I enter test mode ...

Actually, I'm running into the same "9-0" as you with a SP944 chip...
let me change to a SP731 like yours and I'll get back to you.
Meanwhile, read pages 7,8 and 9 in the PSR...we're missing one little stupid step.
You do NOT have to clear your machine....

OKay,
I got it work on mine....this is what you do.

1). Make sure all the Dips are on except 4 and 8.
2). Turn on the machine, leave the door open.
3). Press the test switch once, turn the reset key until you see a "2" only.
4). Press the reset again, make the 3 digits look like "0-0-1",
5). Press the test switch again, make the digits look like "0-1",press change light button until you hear a ding (This saves it)
6). Press the test switch 10 times until you get to "6"...This is setting for you denomination, press the "Play" button until you get "25".

7). Press the test switch 4 more times until you get to "9-1". (This is your progressive display options.)
8). Using a combination of the play and reset key, watch the mini photon display as you change the values...Follow the top of page 7 in the SP731 PSR carefully!

You oughta be in business!

Where's the change light button ?

Title: Re: Mini Photon install

it was my service button LOL

Title: Re: Mini Photon install
Post by: jstraa on April 09, 2009, 07:16:35 PM
At 7 it goes wrong I've to press 5 times and then I still get 0__0 which I can change to 1__1

Title: Re: Mini Photon install
Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 09, 2009, 08:04:51 PM
So now I assume you can get to "6" and change the denomination of your machine to "25" cents right?
Try pressing the Service" button after you change it to see if the machine makes a "ding" sound.
The only thing the "Service" button does is "Save" what you've entered.
Then, press the test switch 4 more times to advance to the "9-1" position  - which is the options for the photon display.

I'm confused.  Why are we trying to help him set the denomination?  Anyway, if his bill acceptor is enabled, that won't work - he will need a SET chip.  Per the PSR:

"The current denomination selection is displayed.  The denomination can only be modified if both the bill acceptor and EFT are disabled; otherwise, the set-chip must be used."

FYI I do not have bill validator on this machine. I 'll look into it again after the weekend going to play the real slots at the casino :)

I think your progressive is enabled - per the PSR, "Progressive #1 Selection <9> - This page is displayed only if DIP switch 5 is set for progressive (on position) and 8 is set for standalone progressive (off position).".  So, when you get it to show 9-1, you are actually on the 1st setting for progressive "progressive reset value [1]" - these values will show on the progressive display itself.  So the Coin In/etc won't show the values.  When you get the 9-1, does the photon show any numbers?

I asked him to watch the photon display when he got to the "9-1".
He seems to somehow pop back into the "Out of Service <90>" options instead.
His SAS EFT is disabled.
I'm suspecting that he turns the reset key after he sets the denomination to 0.25 (or something else.  :103-)
instead of pressing the test switch like he should, in order to advance to the "Progressive #1 Selection<9>.

I remember the first time I set up a mini photon...
it's fairly confusing to a newbie,
until you finally get to the part where you see the numbers on the photon changing when you hit a button.
Then you go "Oh my God, THAT"S how you do it!" :96-

I'm confused.  Why are we trying to help him set the denomination?

Don't you need to set the denom so the progressive knows how much to increment?  It's been a long time since I've tinkered with mine, but that may be a required step.

On page 5 of the SP731 PSR>>

I must quote directly...[The current denomination is displayed.
The denomination can only be modified
                                if both the bill acceptor and EFT are disabled;
otherwise, the set-chip must be used.]

He had a "0", so he HAD to set the denomination in option <6>

He does NOT have a DBV and his EFT is disabled.

Now I believe he needs to enable the EFT,
like on page. 4 of the PSR to "IGT SAS{2} "
in order to get the mini photon to work like mine does.

I was following these directions to enable my Mini Photon. I have everything going well until the part where I am supposed to see 9-1. I actually see 9-2 (9 in the coins played window and 2 in the winner paid window). I'm not sure what to do from here to set my progressive amounts. Does the 9-2 mean anything? I don't see any mention of it in the PSR (for SP731). My mini photon does work and I can see the display change with certain menu items, but I can't figure out how to move past the 9-2. Any ideas?
