Post by: JMac on November 24, 2013, 02:49:29 AM
What is the diff. between a Bally E-1088-51
and a Bally E-1088-54??

Is there a code key somewhere that will tell the neophyte like myself what the different suffix's denote??

TIA!!

The E1088 is the base model .$0.25 Buy Pay 4 reel machine. The dash numbers are variations between these machines but even then there are some machines that have slight variations.

Bally E-1088-51 should be a $0.25 machine with game chip 500195 and reel strips M-231-154,155,-156 (4 reels, 22 stops) The Glass should be from the Sands

Bally E-1088-54 will have a couple of options for pay out percentages so game chips and reel strips would be different. There are also $1.00
machines and then this same machine built for the Tropicana, Reno and MGM.

Some time ago I bought some Bally stuff and a book was included that had all of these machines listed in them.

My machine is 3 reel, not 4 and I am told that it is one of the two models mentioned - You can see a couple of photos of it in my profile pics.

So, at this point I don't know...  Now I did change the game chip, reel strips, reel & feature glass, I will check the old strip numbers, chip and see if they match your info for one of those you listed, I doubt they will match if those you posted were for 4 reel!?!?

My mistake on this, the 1088-51 is a 4 *coin* not reels. As you can see I stated 4 reels twice and that is because I counted part of the reel
strip numbers as a reel, M-231 is the initial part number so the reel strip numbers are correct, the game chip number should be 501195
so I fat fingered that as well.

If you want to give me the original reel strip numbers and the game chip then I may be able to crozss reference thi sfor yoi

The following tells me what I have, it really does help to search the whole game room nooks and crannies!! (Along with files on ones computer, I have just under 3 million files on mine, it took awhile!).

It WAS a 1088-54 and is NOW a 1088-62

The original strips; M 231 326, 327 & 328

The new strips are noted on the data sheet (attached)

What is funny is that I don't see the new reel strips under anything for E1000 but do see it for the E2088-63. Of course the E1088 is the base model for the E2088.

I take it then that your game chip is 540783? that is what my data book says that it should be and your sheet also indicates an 83% pay out.

3 million files :279- on E-series machines?
