Title: I Wonder How Much?
Post by: Jake777 on January 04, 2014, 06:31:40 PM
Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to all
I haven't posted in a while but have been in the background staying in touch.
Found this machine on craigslist today and what I have read, is this one of the holly grail of slot collecting? I'll try to attach the craigslist link but I haven't attached one so I hope this work, it's a 3 coin double diamond wheel of fortune. Looks like the ones I see in the casinos. Wonder what he wants for it, it's probably out of my price range and to far way. Others might want to take a look.

Kind of a crappy pic,  but looks to be complete and in decent shape. Hard to tell if it's all original or if any parts are aftermarket. Best thing to do is call and expect an asking price in the $4k+ range. There's a lot more of those out there in peoples houses than you think. One advantage on this one is the working progressive which means a working comm board and more theme options than a game without a comm board. Thedisadvantage is that those boards are programmed and can lose their programming. Five years from now that machine could be a boat anchor if you needed that board programmed and ccouldn't find anyone to do it

Thanks Cowboy for the info I checked the listing and it's gone. My wish list is a Williams Dragons Realm G+

I managed to get an email sent off to him...here is the reply I got:

Quote from: Dale
I have two of these particular machines. One has a 5 line 5 coin Double Diamond Theme. The other one that is listed has a 3 coin Double Diamond theme. I also have a 5xs pay kit with glass, strips and chips that I can change the game out. These are very rare and you are not likely to ever see these for sale as it is almost impossible to get all the parts and software. It took over 4 months to find all the original IGT parts to put this together and get it running. I am very hesitant to sell  but will consider $7000. I can provide video of the machines running......

Barry just let 2 of them go for 2k each. I still think 4-5k is probably about average. We've seen, what, four or five of these come up for sale in the last year?

So, just how "rare" are these WOF machines in reality? Would someone care to give me a good guess of the population of these machines in private hands? I see a lot of talk and pictures posted about them recently but I'm wondering if I'm seeing a skewed sample... because all of you guys around here are such enthusiasts... or is it that a good number of them have gone into the market the last few years. Just curious...  :103-

Nobody really knows how many are out there, but an educated guess would put that number probably under 50. Nobody sees them all but I think most that own them are or have been members on this site. There was an influx(if that's what you'd call it) when they switched from the S2000 to the AVP, but that's about done with so parts will dry up again. If rumors are true it won't be to much longer and the AVP's will start showing up in home game rooms pretty soon.

I was reminded, or I should say that it was pointed out to me, that one of my previous replies was erroneous. Not all WOF themes with progressive require a comm board and the theme posted in that ad would not. In fact none of the themes listed above would require a comm board. If you wanted to use RWB or TWC, then that would require the aforementioned comm board. The themes listed above would operate similar to any S2000 with or without progressive
