Title: Red White and Blue IGT Machine...coins drop ti tray
Post by: menthiac on January 07, 2014, 11:44:10 PM
All of a sudden our machine stopped accepting the nickels.  We found out that the coin in the coin comparator was no longer there.  We put a nickel in and now when you try and put nickels in, they just fall through to the tray.  There is no error code and we can add credits manually under the comparator compartment.  Everything seems to be working, we plug it in and the reels go round and the sounds go off.  It just won't keep the coins.  We tried to adjust the little screw on the coin comparator both ways and that didn't help.

First, what kind of machine do you have?  An S+?  S2000?

Second, are you positive that the new nickel in the comparator is seated correctly in there?  Try removing it and re-inserting it to make sure.

Third, is it possible that the hands that removed the nickel from the comparator could have also done other things inside of the machine?  A coin can't just fall out of the comparator without some help...

The machine has always been a 5 cents nickel machine.

sounds as if your machine is working as it should -----all except, accepting coins, the fact that the machine accepts credits via the coin optic board  tells me that the problem area is your cc-16.  since the coin was missing, I would start there.  to see and understand the correct placement of the coin, I would recommend taking out the cc-16. very easy! before removing it take a picture of how it is in place, pay attention to everything, the cc-16 has four nubs on it, two on the top and two on the bottom, these nubs are pushed into four plastic holders that are attached to the metal frame. unplug the connector on the left side of the cc-16, place two fingers behind  the bottom two nubs and pull forward, then pull the top two out, now you should have the cc in your hand.  look at the back of the cc, you will see a spring that is hooked to a permanent point and the sub component that holds the coin in place. now turn it over and move that piece over to the left, when you let it go it should slide back to its HOME position, if you look at that piece from the top view you will see a gap behind the front most piece, its here where the coin is placed, that will keep the move able piece off its HOME position and in the right position with a coin installed.
when the coin is placed there and you let the move able piece go back to the right it will seat with a component and lock the coin in its proper place.  now all you have to do it put the cc back in its place, put the top two in their place, now you can rotate the cc down to the bottom two holders, they should line up, now push it firmly into place, now connect the plug, it will only go on one way PLUG is KEYED.  make sure the adjustment screw is all the way CCW.  with the coin in the right place, it should work, if not then you have a bad cc or a bad cable.  all the wires are attached cable is probably good.

Hope this helps
Jim

Kevin I suspect this is either a S  or a S+  I've yet to find the Pseudo button on a S 2000 do anything. Game King is just as bad, press the Pseudo button and hold it in and "COIN-IN JAM" error appears let off button and error goes away and adds NO credits.

Sounds good, I'll move it to the S/S+ category.

And here all these years I've been told that it's the folks in the South that are slow.

Bunker don't you F**K with me. I'm a half ass moderator and Joey told me my nuke button is in the mail,

haha! I know...I'm being VERY careful here!  :5-

I just always thought that it was Bally that had the "Psuedo" button on their MPU cages
while IGT called the button under the coin-in optics...the "Service Coin" button.
