A friend dumped a non-functional IGT PE poker machine with a Ceronix 1492D monitor on me to fix.  I've fixed a few slots and video poker machines, but am by no means a pro.  Anyway, dangling from the PC board in back of the yoke is a green wire soldered to about 18" of braid, dangling a little spring.  See my picture.  I think it's called the "aquadag braid", but can't figure out how or where it attaches.  I've searched all the pictures etc I can find on the net but still haven't a clue.  Apparently, Aquadag is the graphite based coating found on CRTs.

Any help out there?  Please.

That wire goes from the degaussing loop to the frame to hold the loop in place.

That should be hooked to 3 of the 4 corners of the 1492 CRT. The loop go over one of the mounting tabs in the corners. The opposite corner is attached with a small zip tie and the spring in the small holes in the metal mounting tab,  the the third corner is held in place with a small zip tie. The green wire attaches to the pin on the board attached to the neck of the tube. Hope that helps.

Thanks to both Amachanic and Proten for their speedy answers.  But sorry, I'm still a little bit confused.  Firstly, there's no degaussing loop I can find excepting the braid.  Should or can the braid make electrical contact with the frame and mounting tabs?

I tried attaching the braid to 3 corners with and had problems because my zip ties are pretty stiff and only the smallest (4") would fit through the holes in the CRT mounting tabs, which placed the braid next to the metal chassis.  It was hard to make the braid lie flat along the graphite coating of the CRT and not contact the metal parts of the frame and chassis.  How close to the tabs and outer edge of the CRT should the braid be?  Are there any pictures of the correct installation?

The degaussing wire was seperate to this ground wire. From what I remember it was two wires, blue & black with the same shape as the ground wire that were wrapped in black tape. It mounted with the small zip ties in the corners of the CRT. It then plugged into the Ceronix unit.. I don't have a 1492 Ceronix or CRT to take a picture of right now.

It's a degaussing coil, not wire. It's many turns of wire that create a magnetic field around the face of the CRT to help degauss it. It's a weak coil that can't overcome strong magnetic and electromagnetic sources that cause colored blotches on the screen. You'll need a manual degaussing coil when that happens.

Ok .. Your right it is a coil, having a brain fade in my old age.. Lol.  It was a thick black wrapped loop that was attached with that ground wire, then had a two prong plug that attached to the Ceronix unit back behind the flyback.. I've seen the wires both black, or blue & black.
