Title: Newb + Bally S5500 Stand Alone Progressive = Need HELP Post by: bsnw on January 19, 2014, 03:05:04 AM Hello everyone and I have to say I see there is a wealth of knowledge from the members on this site. I am new to owning a slot but familiar with how to give the casino a vast amount of my money through slots. :89- I have spent the last couple of days pouring over documentation in the download section and going through the posts. Forgive me if I post some obvious questions but I fell I have exhausted the forum without finding the answers.
Slot setup: 1. Bally S5500 (I see most people here have IGT) Stand Alone Progressive 2. Progressive controller with labels 341-002-10B and EP9000 Standalone stickers. I am not sure if this is a CON1 CON2 or a third one I have read about but not cannot recall the name of it right now. 3. LED board in the top of the slot connected to the progressive controller The LED sign rotates between “dr.” and “WINNER” and displays EMPTY when the Hooper is empty. So the progressive controller is properly connected to the slot main board because it knows when the Hopper is empty. Someone before me has programmed it to display dr and winner but I want to change it. Computer setup: 1. I have PSP 2.0 running in DOSBox on Windows 8.1 64 BIT OS 2. Using a USB to Serial adaptor on COM1 3. Custom serial cable with Female DB9 attached to a Male DB9. The F-DB9 pin 2, 3 and 5 connected to a M-DB9 pin 2, 3 and 5 with a jumper cable connecting pin 1 and 5 on the M-DB9 end. I have tested the pin out from both ends to ensure that there is a closed circuit on each pin with a volt meter. 4. Computer -> USB serial -> custom serial cable -> J5 female on the controller I have attempted to connect to the controller so I could pull the current config, make my changes and upload it back to the controller. I have messed around with the PSP software to get a feel for it and see there are a lot of settings and figured it would be easier to pull the current config from the controller so I know I have the params correct when I go to upload. Problem: When I attempt to connect to the controller I get error on communicating with controller or it hangs at Loading Config File but never finishes loading. Depends on my following settings depends on which one happens. I have selected CON1, CON2, and OLD from the menu because I am not 100% positive which one I have. I have looked through various manuals and ones that have images of various cards none of them match my card. I attempt to connect to the controller with F3 for the path prompt. When asked for a SUB PATH I have tried so many various paths based on various posts. I don’t know that I have even put in the correct path. I think the ultimate problem is I keep trying various steps when I am not even positive which controller I have and hope once I get that part covered then it will become a lot clearer on what I am doing wrong. I have attached some pictures and hope someone can guide me in the right direction in getting connected to the controller. I have another more questions but I need to get past this first before moving on. I have put in all the info I can think of in regards to this issue. Thank you in advance for any help. Title: Re: Newb + Bally S5500 Stand Alone Progressive = Need HELP **FIXED** Post by: bsnw on January 24, 2014, 03:54:17 AM In the event someone else has this same setup and same problem here is how I fixed mine.
I loaded the PSP software on to a Windows XP computer and ran the dos program outside of DOSBox with the usb to serial and home made cable. It worked just fine so my steps were correct and it was the system I was on that was the problem. I read a post that said that DOSBox and usb to serial cable worked on a Windows 7 system. Since I used the same setup but on WIndows 8.1 I am guessing my problem was related to Windows 8.1. |
