Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: riverratmike on October 22, 2012, 02:03:08 AM A set chip, or "denomination setup chip" is a chip that you temporarily install on the MPU circuit board to enable the bill validator. It essentially gives permission to the machine to enable the bill validator. Question? Just where on the MPU board is this set chip sopposed to be installed? There are a number of IC's on the MPU board with sockets. Not sure which one for the set chip to be used?You can purchase a set chip from any of the vendors listed at the top of this page, or likely from any machine vendor you know of in your area. To enable the bill validator on a PE+: - Turn the machine off. - Remove the MPU board - Remove the current chip in the "Program" socket - Install the SET chip in the Program socket (make sure to install the chip with the notch in the same direction as the chip you removed) - Put the MPU board back in the machine and turn the power on You should now see a screen similar to this: (http://i44.tinypic.com/149rzaw.jpg) (Thanks to Stolistic for the screenshot from his blog!) Follow the directions on the screen -- use the Jackpot Reset key to set the correct denomination ($0.05, $0.25, etc.), and use the Deal/Draw button to toggle the "Disabled/Enabled" option to "Enabled." IMPORTANT! Make sure to press the white "self test" button to save the settings, and wait until you see "Options Saved" on the screen (like in the picture above). Once you've done that: - Turn the machine off - Remove the MPU board - Remove the SET chip from the Program socket and put your game program back in its place - Install the MPU board again - Turn the machine on -- your bill validator should now work Title: Re: How To: Enable the bill validator on a PE+ with a SET chip Post by: knagl on October 23, 2012, 05:18:07 AM I did my best to spell it out in the initial post. Or is a special chip for a poker machine needed?

To the best of my knowledge, you need a SET chip designed for the PE+, although I once heard a rumor of a SET chip that worked for both the S+ and PE+.
