Title: igt I game conversion to Game King Help!
Post by: hedgee on January 27, 2014, 12:42:08 AM
Hello,  I have a IGT I game with a 3902 board.  I want to convert it to a game king.  I purchased some game king chips with a multi media board.  I am a little confused.  The chips are gme 1of 2 and 2 of 2.  Which is easy to understnad.  The problem I am having is the CG chips they are 1 of 4.  Where do they go?  There are empty sockets where the game chips go, but two of them are filled with a differnt type of chip.  Also do the two "slot cards" that are in the game still stay in?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

GME1 and GME2 EPROMS go into sockets U13 & U36 respectively.  You should have two PXL EPROMS that need to be installed in U14 & U37 and then two CG EPROMS that go in U30 and U53.  Since you have 4 CG EPROMS I'm assuming they're mislabeled and two probably belong in the PXL sockets and the other two in the CGF sockets.  The question is which ones go where?  The PXL EPROMS are 8Mb and should be 27C801 or 27C080, and CG EPROMS are 4Mb and should be 27C4001 or 27C040s.  Read the numbers on the EPROM and see what you have.

All the SIMM cards from your I-game software need to be removed.

I checked my chips again and you are correct. I do have the chips which you indicate. Which numbers go into each socket?

The two 4Mb EPROMS go in the CG sockets (U30 & U53) and the other two 8Mb PXL EPROMs and go in U14 & U37.  Assuming your chips are labeled CG1, CG2, CG3, & CG4 and CG1 and CG2 are the 8Mb chips I would put CG1 into PXL1 (U14) and CG2 into PXL2 (U37).  CG3 into CG1 (U30) and CG4 into CG2 (U53).  Then power it up and see if it boots.  If it does, then you can set it up.  If you get a gray pixelated screen, then you will have to swap chips around until they're in the right place and the machine boots.

See if this will help  Yellow  Base chip
                         Red Game chips
                         Blue PXL chips
                         White CG chips

There is every chance that you will have to clear and key the machine.  A key 040 or a key 22 will get the job done.  There may be others, but these are the two I use.
