I finally got the green arrows to show up on the BV but it is temperamental.  For example, say I get the green arrows to show up.  I can play the machine, put in bills, I have TITO working so I can put in vouchers...everything works great.

I then turn off the power strip the machine is plugged into and then turn the power strip back on.  The machine boots up and the BV cycles and then goes to the red 'do not enter' sign/light.

I then have to pull the cash box out, slam it in, slam the cashbox door shut and then reseat the BV...sometimes it goes to green arrows and sometimes it doesn't (error 29 - ugh - I then repeat the procedure and it eventually goes to green arrows)

Is this just what I have to deal with or is there something I can do/check?

Do the BVs in your 6000s works flawlessly??

dumb question?    have you bypassed the cash can switch???    it is located on the righthand side of the fixture and it is activated by the door when it is fully closed.

No, I have not bypassed that cash can switch.  I took the cover off the switch and reinstalled in to make sure that I could see it closing.  Even now and then when I close the main door, I get a 52 and have to push the cash can door hard and it goes away.

it does not hurt anything to bypass that switch. even though it looks like it is being activated from the outside, inside the switch could be a whole different story. mechanically it may look good but electrically it is bad or intermittent.

When I was going through my error '29' over the past few days, I did remove that switch and check it.  This switch was part of the harness that I took from a working machine.  Once I get everything working, I think I'll close that switch permanently to make it less likely to error on the buyer.

i had the same exact problem with my last 6000 monte carlo. very temperamental.  i tried installing new bill validator heads, transport units, swaped out cash cans, replaced switches, and nothing worked.  i  would have to reboot the machine a few times before i got the validator to turn green and accept bills. i finally fixed the problem......i sold my bally 6000s and replaced them with bally 9000s.  problem solved, lol

Ha - well, that's what I'm doing with this one.  I'm selling it!  They shouldn't need to go into the cash box too much since it has TITO and free credits by pushing the Change button as the buyer requested.

that bill validator hiccup on my 6000 drove me crazy. i really liked the machine but just got turned off to the 6000s in general because of that
stupid problem. i have to say im very impressed with my new alpha 9000s.  much more user friendly then the 6000s and even more so then the igt s2000s IMO

Boy I have never heard of this issue with BV's, I have had S-6000 working for years and no complaints, and know if problem they would be a callin!!  Now I bet you are using "Leave In" or 1990's-ish mains with Newer Upgraded BV Software, Like NG $5 or NG $100. ??? I personally never use older than 2003  and for Monte's even newer like 2008's or so

For what it is worth, I never pull a BV unit from a powered up machine as that has been known to damage the Duart chip on the MPU but know it is done in Casino's daily and slamming the Cash Box usually means the Cash Box is bent up at top back corner. It should go in without a John Wayne style shove

Personally I don't bypass the BV Door Switch on the S-6000 as Door will stay shut on it's own (Yes on IGT I do) ..... just my $0.02

I do have 'leave-in' mains to work with my TITO, but I believe they're 2004 mains.  Actually, I've been working on my machine in my very cold garage and even though it may sounds nuts, I brought it inside to work on and the BV has been behaving a lot better.

I have to keep my shop at a min. of 55° or I have issues.

I had similar problems with my s5500 the younger cousin to tour 6000 and found the issue was a flakey power supply sometimes the acceptor lite green most times red or not at all just got led flashing on acceptor board
