Title: Accolades all around!
Post by: Magicslots on April 25, 2009, 12:12:35 AM
Accolades all around to the many and varied people here who have helped me get my machine up and running!  :131-
With only a few minor cosmetic touches, and some led bulbs, and some new button legends, I'll have this puppy just like I want it :89-
I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate all the advice, links and information you have shared with me.
Special thanks to Jim @ Blueridgeslots, and Darell @ Slotsforhome, for the great deals they gave me on parts!
This site makes learning about the machines tons of fun.  :3-
Now if I could just find a great deal on a 3cm RWB Deluxe kit  :72-

If I may be so bold as to ask if you find this site useful, donations are kindly accepted to help defray the costs of bandwidth and hosting.  Joey doesn't make money out of hosting this site and it's for the benefit of everyone. Every little bit helps.  I know that when I started slots, this site didn't exist and information was hard to come by and when it did, it was by the way of purchasing manuals and PSR's and PARS, it got expensive fast.   :89- :89- :89-

I actually intend to do that very thing... :47-
I have noticed there seems to be different levels of contributing members,
What are the different levels?

Actually, there's only one as far as financial contributions go. Members who contribute financially are given the "Contributing Members" avatar to let everyone know that they have helped the site. Contributing Gold Membership is an honorary title that is given to members who have consistently gone above and beyond to help other members or to help the site (such as helping to create documentation for the FAQ, etc.), and who have earned the respect and trust of the other members. Current Gold members vote to admit new members into the group. Just about every Gold member contributes financially, but technically it is not a requirement to be voted Gold.

Maybe someday I will know enough about these things to make the "Gold Standard".  Ahh, everyone should have something to aspire to.  Boy, have I got a lot to learn! :25-

:72- :72- :72- We all do! You don't have to be an expert to end up being voted Gold. We are a community of people helping people, and hopefully having a few laughs and making a few friends along the way. If you consistently help others whenever you can and share what you learn as you go, that's all that anyone would ask. :89-

The goal here is to spread the knowledge.  I remember when I became a moderator,  the amount of questions that I used to answer was quite high at the beginning, but then other members started "taking over" the answering to the point where now I rarely answer as somebody else chimes in.  It's a great feeling seeing others picking up the baton.  There are more knowledgeable people in this site by quite a good margin than there were 1 year ago.  So keep at it, and don't be afraid to chime in whenever you can.  It only helps this hobby, which by it's nature, it's secretive.  It's not like you can call 1-800-call IGT and get answers.  What you may consider basic knowledge right now, it's foreign language to somebody who just got into the hobby and doesn't know what to do beyond putting coins and spinning the reels.
