Title: Proud New owner of a Bally Alpha American Original - Some Questions...
Post by: coolwavepic on February 16, 2014, 07:28:11 PM
Hello!

I am a proud new owner of a Bally Alpha American Original. I love the slot but really want the option to change the games.

1) I need a ram clear CF card so I can change the settings, games, ect. Can someone point me the right direction on how to obtain one?

2) Can I convert the top glass to a Monitor config?

3) Will games made for Cinevision run on this cabinet?

and finally...

4) where is the best place to find new games? Doesn't have to include glass. Looking for Hot Shot, Quick Hit, Power Strike titles that will run on this cab.

Thanks for the information and appreciate the help!

Hi Charles,

Welcome to  :nlg-.   Nice looking machine.  I have the spinning reel version of it, and just got picked up an Alpha video slot a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, you will need a RAM clear flash card in order to change most settings.  There are many different versions of them. The one you need is determined by your OS version and BIOS version.   If you can post that information then someone can probably let you know what clear CF you need.  From there you can post a wanted to buy (WTB) in the classified section, same for the other games you are looking for.

I don't think you could easily convert your topbox to support an additional monitor, but most cinevision games should run on your machine too.

Your OS is newer than mine, but according to a document I have the clear CF you need is AVOCLEAR335-01.

Same here. That's the only one I knew to recommend as well.  :89-

I have been wanting to try this and still gathering the parts.
But the short answer is YES, it was offered as a kit conversion from Bally

The short answer may be YES, but the journey may be a tad ugly. I commend Robert for tackling this one, but wouldn't recommend it to someone wanting a "game change". If you're willing to put in the work, damn near anythings possible...not being a naysayer, just saying this isnt a 10-minute game change.
