Title: Anyone ever run into a Locked MPU tray?
Post by: rilaw on March 01, 2014, 12:30:07 PM
I have worked on and owned many S+ slots over the years and have never run into one with a locked (barrel lock) Mpu tray until now.  Other than sacrificing the tray and using a dremel around the lock, are there any other options to getting this board out?  :103-

If it wasn't such a tight area I'd say drill it, but that can be tough in the best of circumstances. Can you get close enough with a dremel cutting wheel to take the top off the barrel lock and not have to sacrifice the board?

Just wondering if you can you punch out the rivets on the top and it will allow the bracket that the cam is in to fall off?

EDIT:  I have a tray if you damage that one.

That would be the way to go.The rivets are aluminum and would not take much to remove the heads and pry the tray up.

I used a 90 degree chuck on my drill and drilled both out, tray came right out with no damage!

Thanks again!!  Hope this post can help others in the future.

Got to get me one of those 90 degree chucks.

I don't have a problem like your board but it just sounds like a cool thing to have in the tool box.

I use this for narrow places and a bit with a hex head shank.

I have several with a key switch there none with locks. I have never figured out what the switch controls because turning it either direction did not change anything

Are there wires attached to it? If so, where do they go? I haven't had an S+ for a number of years now and only have S2000 on the brain much anymore

Yes there were 2 wires attached. I don't have the machines. I know I posted pictures on here but can't find them. They were key switches with 2 stops. When I sold the machines I told people to leave them alone.

I know they were installed on the WAP (Wide Area Progressive) games like Megabucks and the like for enhanced security.

Yes, the machines that had the key switches had progressives. Since they were not stand alones that is why I couldn't figure out what they did.
