No one bid against Buzz and we got it for $199. Joey knows, so it's not a secret, but what he didn't know until now is that it is going to be a gift from the members of NLG. Buzz has appointed me the head peon :5- in charge of collecting any donations that members would like to make towards the cost of the topper. Buzz is an independent truck driver so we have a way to get the topper to Joey. As you may know, the yellow neon tube is broken (see picture and the seller's description) and Buzz and I are also going to look into getting it replaced. We're hoping that it won't be that expensive since the tubing is probably a standard size and yellow is a common color.

So here's the deal: All donations received will go first towards the cost of the topper and second, towards the cost of repairing the yellow neon. If you are all as generous as I hope you will be, any extra money collected will be donated to the site towards hosting costs. Neither Buzz nor I will be taking any money to pick it up or deliver it etc.

Those wishing to contribute, please send me a PM and I will give you my contact information. Remember, if you don't donate, your name won't be listed on the get well card.

Well, he must sick; he can’t possibly be operating on all thrusters. After all, anyone who owns slot machines isn’t quite right in the head to begin with, :5-
and he can’t be too bright because he went into the slot business, :96-
and his brain must be fried as he lives in a town that get up to 132°F in the SHADE, :159-

Hey guys, we just returned from piicking up our prize. It looks really cool but let me tell you, this is not a slot topper. This is one big SOB. It sits on its own base and appears to have a motor inside to rotate the sign on the base, which is probably intended to sit on a pole high above a bank of slots. I've taken pictures, but don't have time to post right now as Buzz and I are headed out the door to take this bad boy straight to the command center tonight!

I responded to those of you who have contacted me via PM and will get to everyone else when I get back. I will say that we've had a fairly good response so far, but I was hoping to hear from a few more of our regular posters.

Hope to post back soon from NLG headquarters!

- notibly the reason Joey does not have a reader is that he probably does not have a digial camera that he needs to upload.

Uhmm...they still make cameras that use CF cards?...I thought those went out, like with 35mm film...oh for sure! :55-  :97-

Yup.

The advantage to the CF format is the is the packaging. Much more durable than the smaller form factor storage devices.

The sh :58- ts of it is, I had a really good camera (Sylvania?), 2 cameras ago, that used CF card. I really liked it cause the card also worked in my HP PDA.
That camera got stolen then on to an Olympus that used XD. That one took good pictures but was kind of a pain in the butt to use. It got stolen too! :89-
Now I have a Samsung that uses SD. I REALLY don't like this camera! But given the track record, I went with something much less expensive! I wish I had that
1st one still! :5- It was simple to use and took great pics. Nowadays, it doesn't seem many cameras use CF. Doesn't really matter to me which format. Too bad
they aren't standardized but everyone's got to get their piece of the action. :89-

..We've arrived at Buzz' house. At this point we were going to unload the sign and hold onto it until the BBQ. I was going to contact a neon shop about replacing the broken yellow tubes.

However, we changed our minds at the last minute and decided to take it straight to Joey at NLG, so off we went...

(we only had room for four) Any KISS fans there are I think  3 KISS signs, the smallest is about the size of Odie the largest at least twice as big or bigger!!! Pat wants this stuff out of his warehouse so I think its a buyers market.   4 near new black metal slot stands $10 each. Also has a full pallet of hoppers I have to check out.  Buzz

Pat said that the hoppers were from the DR and might be set for penny sized coins, but he wasn't sure. I'm almost certain that they weren't IGT hoppers (they might have been Bally).

The Golden Nugget did, indeed, have an impressive number of CICO slot and VP machines. Two years ago when I was there with Ron (r273) there were only about a dozen or so old S-Pluses (four $0.50 machines and maybe ten $0.25 machines). Last year those were gone, but CaptainHappy :95- and I did find a few VP machines. Now they have at least two full rows of PE and PE-Pluses and many more S-Pluses, including $1 and $5 denominations. As Buzz mentioned, their bucket count came out a little light at the end of our visit. :71- We also made sure that they knew that we were pleased to see these machines back in play.

Actually, when we left Joey, our first stop was to get a bite to eat at the all night coffee house at the Tropicana. The casino was remodeled and looked nice and clean, but the drunk density was at least one per nine square meters :25- :7-, and by drunk, I mean BLITZED. We were greeted at the curb (hadn't even made it to the door yet) by a rather good-looking young woman lying flat on her back. She welcomed us (I think?) as we passed by. Buzz actually seemed to have had some idea of what she had slurred -- er, said, so maybe he can offer his opinion. :72- :72- From there it was downhill, although the folks that I encountered were congenial, at least.

They had a lot of the newest Bally LCD games (EVO and EVO hybrid, or..??) and some S2000 5-reel games.

Here are pictures of one of the chairs. There were four or five different logo designs available, and they had various minor degrees of damage to the fabric, as you can see on the front of the seat in the picture below, but none were really bad.

They are really much more expensive...the upholstery can be fixed no problem...
I think you can cut a small piece from the bottom and stuff it in the hole
and applying a little bit of glue to hold the piece and fibers from fraying any further.

That Odie is HUGE!!!  Looks really cool though.

Will that be sold or are you going to keep it?  Please send some more pictures when it's in position.

That thing is WELL BEYOND a topper, it's a STREET SIGN!!!  I still can't believe how big it is!!!

I wonder how many of those were made?  Can't be more than a couple of hundred?

I think that perhaps you could (or then again, maybe not :5-). The large KISS sign is simply the word KISS in hundreds of bulbs and is 4-5 feet tall and probably 15 feet long! It looks like a sign that the band would have had behind them at a large venue like a stadium concert. I'll admit that an avid KISS fan would probably kill to get the thing, but where the heck would one put it?!

A true KISS fan would mount it across the roof of their house... :96-

 :31- is going to be jealous.  Odie is huge but I love it.  One of these days when we finally make it to stateline again I wanna cross the border to AZ and check it all out.  I hope Buzz remembered to put me down for 4 or 6 chairs. 

It would be either at my cottage or in my garage.  Good excuse for me to build a huge steel garage/building at my cottage, wonder if my wife would go for it.

Anyway, it would be far too expensive to ship.
