Title: Katusha.a virus!
Post by: rjpohl on May 03, 2009, 11:22:33 AM
I purchased a knock off Willem programmer on ebay several months ago.  Everything worked ok the first few months and then wasn't used again until just recently.  Now my ZONE ALARM anti-virus software quarantines the .exe file.

has anyone else had this problem?  any known repairs or new software?

thanks
Bob

which willem did you buy?  And what program were you using that you got a virus warning.  It might be a false positive.

+1 on the false positive.

Make sure you've upgraded to the latest definitions and scan that file again.

I purchased it off ebay from Jack16588 and it was listed as EPROM Programmer +M27c2048,M27c4096,M27c4002 Adapter Item number: 190299670891.

Just recently when I attempt to start program (eprom51.exe) the Zone Alarm anti virus program on my computer puts the file in quarantine.  I have upgraded the Zone Alarm program and no more upgrades are available.

How can I tell if it is a false positive??

If I turn off the zone alarm and reinstall the software it works fine until the next system anti virus scan.

thanks
Bob

Others here may have a better suggestion, but I would download the free version of Malwarebytes and do a full scan. If/when your computer comes up clean and if that file is clean, then add it to Zone Alarm's ignore list. Just my 2ยข.
